too much significance is attached to color. wear what color you feel you like and suits you. tradition does not have to bind you in this. maroonish are alright. they may look just as good as black or beige.
reds & their connotations may not be the right way to think about dressing up on your wedding because then there must be something for the groom to wear as well that signifies importance of an opinion based on lop sided views on the status of a bachelor.
