Wedding Jewellary

Hi Guys,

What jewellary are you wearing for your wedding days, Baraat, Walima and mehndi?

What type of Jewellary? Gold, silver or diamond or artifical?

For Mehndi, Flower Jewellary or other?

Colour combination?

Did you have it custom made or ready made?

Wedding Jewellary

For my nikaah/civil marriage im wearing my mums wedding necklace!

Mehndi- artificial and some flowers in my hair something minimal

Baraat: artificial set to match my outfit and gold bangles and bits n bobs lol im not a fan of huge gold sets so im going for stuff to match my outfit

Valima- undecided yet as apparantly MIL is picking out a gold set for me but i already have a jewellery set ive seen that matches my outdit perfectly.! Im feeling nauseaus at the thought of wearing loads of gold.!

Re: Wedding Jewellary

Mehndi - no idea. Can anyone help - where can I get flower jewellery made in London (bearing in mind I am not planning on spending hundreds) I only have matching green and orange bangles with my suit which are pretty - am planning to keep the whole look very very simple

Shaadi - gold plated set I chose zabardasti se in Pakistan but hate it (oh well) with gold chudiyan which I love (which makes up for the set!) and gold karras

Walima - again, no idea. Don’t even know what my dress looks like. Totally dreading it cus my susaraal’s taste in clothes is… chavval… lol. she told me she’s got me a nath though, so that might be cool… or not… :bummer:

Re: Wedding Jewellary

You can get flower jewellery from Mina's Stores in Manor Park, East London (I think anyways, we got some for my sister there a few weeks ago for her mehndi) - google their number and call them to ask if they do them
Otherwise it's reeeaaalllyyy easy to make flower jewellery, we also did that too, we bought roses and carnations and some wire and threaded the flowers through, didn't take long either.

Re: Wedding Jewellary

oh wow thanks for the tips! I was thinking it doesn't look too hard to do that, but how can you keep the flowers fresh all night? I remember I once put a fresh flower in my hair for a wedding, and by the end of the night (literally like 4 hours later) it had drooped over my forehead and was looking a bit depressing lol

Also, did you make earrings? Does that mean putting a wire through your ears?? (isn't that weird?)

Anyway - can you post pics if you have any pls plsssss! I want to see what it looks like to make your own, cus it really doesn't sound like rocket science and I actually think it'll be really fun to do :)

Re: Wedding Jewellary

just did a google search - the only mina stores I found is a cash and carry in East Ham

https://www.google.co.uk/maps?q=&layer=c&z=17&iwloc=A&sll=51.553313,0.055294&cid=3220646918881082110&cbp=13,106.7,-5.2,0,0&panoid=xTRgfFZFo0xY3WEMNuCEvg&q=mina+stores+manor+park&sa=X&ei=O6BhUIXGFZKT0QWorYCYCA&ved=0CJcBEJ8CKAAwAw

they actually stock fresh flower jewellery?!!

Re: Wedding Jewellary

For my mehendi, an artificial teeka ( don’t like those flower teekas, look awkward) and flower earrings and flower bangles and flower ring.
For my wedding, I will be wearing a gold set of my mom’s which is very elegant and non bulky and still traditional, gold bangles and some glass bangles. InshaAllah.
For my valima, not much of an idea. I hope it is something very elegant and minimal.

InshaAllah.

Wedding Jewellary

Aww interesting! So on baraat are you all going for tika n jhumar or mata pati?

Re: Wedding Jewellary

Lemme check with my sister and confirm the name with you, Mina Stores is a cash and carry yes, but it’s pretty big and they sell loads of stuff. Will go home and post pics!

We only got the bracelets, cos she had her own earrings and stuff, but if you get it on the day they normally stay fresh. We just kept it in a cool place all day!

Re: Wedding Jewellary

Just a teeka. Matched with mom's set. I think jhoomars are pretty but being a simple person, I don't want a lot of ornaments on me. :)

Re: Wedding Jewellary

My mum wants me to wear her tikka on mehndi day, it's all gold with bit of maroon stones in it. My mehndi suit have some maroon it it too. I am now thinking, whether wearing gold for all three days would be too much or should i just stick to flower jewellary on mehndi?

Re: Wedding Jewellary

you can wear your gold jewellry ( as long as it is delicate for a mehendi) and still get flower stuff like nice gajras and maybe put flowers in your braid. :)

i think you should honour your mother's wishes. it's the little things that can make one's day. :)

Re: Wedding Jewellary

I am, Sammi. The tikka is beautiful!

Re: Wedding Jewellary

^ I read this as tika , know chicken tikka is beautiful :rotfl:

Re: Wedding Jewellary

People used to say this about my tikka thread as well

Re: Wedding Jewellary

Re: Wedding Jewellary

Re: Wedding Jewellary

hmmm didnt think about jwlry for mehndi =/ i dont like those big flower teekas myself ... if i cant find a decent one .. i will prolly wear a small kundan ka teeka and rest of it would be flowery stuff...
