I have no idea how your friend’s printer did that but as far as I know, that’s not possible without having some sort of a digital template or design file to print from that includes the design and text. Imagine running a card with designs through your home computer, for example- how would you put the text on it and how would you make sure it prints in the right space on the card? Professional printers have fancier, more expensive printers but the principle is the same.
I would love to know who your friend’s printer was, btw. If someone out there has a different method, I’d like to add them to my contacts for my clients!
