Hi,
I am getting Married in NY Inshallah, and I am looking for vendors.
For Wedding cards I saw this website, Weddingcardzone.com. Has anyone ever used them? They say that they send a sample before you place a bulk order, so I am guessing its ok to use them, but they are in Pakistan.
Does anyone know a place in NY where they sell Pakistani wedding invitations?
Also I am looking for the following
MUA
Photographer
Decorator
DJ
Belly Dancers/Singer/ any entertainment idea!
A place in NY/NJ that sells Pakistani Bridal Lenghas. Mostly I see stores catering to Indians, so If anyone knows a store for Pakistani Bridal Lengahs it would be great. I don’t want to do something over facebook, Im worried
what it would actually look like in person.
Also I’m looking for a singer his name is Ritesh. I saw him at a distant relative’s wedding years ago. He actually kept the crowd active, and would take requests for songs. I just can’t find his info online anymore.
If anyone has any names to stay away from, or to use. It would be much appreciated!!!
Even a vendor website would be helpful!
Re: Wedding invitations help!
there's 1 shop on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn that would have a light bridal suit, but dunno about bridal lenghas....youre better off checking out Jackson Heights, Queens.
My friend ordered her wedding invites from someone called Royal Charms....they were gorgeous. definitely check them out on Facebook.
Meh, I think belly dancer is kinda trashy
Re: Wedding invitations help!
I ordered samples from Wedding Card Zone and they came quickly and were very nice. I'm probably going to order my entire set from them and get them printed in Toronto. I don't trust printing over there with spelling mistakes and all.
Re: Wedding invitations help!
Any invitation designer in NY or surrounding areas would be able to design cards for you but if you are hoping to pay $1 per piece and you don’t particularly care about the quality of the paper or printing, then you are better off ordering them online from Pakistan or India.
I would definitely order samples first though and place your order well in advance.
there are also US based companies like http://www.minted.com and Wedding Invitations - 750+ Designs & Templates | Wedding Paper Divas that offer cards with South Asian-inspired designs. Both of them have online calculators so you can see what your total will be right off the bat.
terebina, they’ll send you the high res files for your cards?
Re: Wedding invitations help!
^^ I'm not sure what you mean. I ordered samples and got the actual wedding cards they send - very thick card stock, nicely decorated and stuff. My friend did the same thing last year, she got blank cards from Sri Lanka and had them printed on here.
Re: Wedding invitations help!
well you said you wanted them printed here. in order for you to do that, you'll need a high res pdf file for your invitations so you can send it to the printers here.

I'm confused... Can I not just order blank cards (with the designs and stuff already on it but no writing) and take them to a printer here and have them print just the wording on? That's what my friend did.

I don't understand, why not just get everything done thru wedding card zone? I mean they say that they will print and send you a copy. So wouldn't you be able to catch any spelling mistakes? I would think it would cost a lot more to do cards at one place and printing at another? Also where do you go for printing if you were to do it separately?

I saw the facebook, they are crazy expensive, 1 card was quoted at $35, but your right they were gorgeous. Can you tell me the name of the shop on coney island?
I've seen belly dancers at other weddings, Ive also seen indian Bollywood dancers. I preferred the belly dancers. I mean you can always ask them to be a bit more covered up and they have a lot of special dances with candles/swords/butterfly wings. I think its a good source of entertainment :)

I have no idea how your friend's printer did that but as far as I know, that's not possible without having some sort of a digital template or design file to print from that includes the design and text. Imagine running a card with designs through your home computer, for example- how would you put the text on it and how would you make sure it prints in the right space on the card? Professional printers have fancier, more expensive printers but the principle is the same.
I would love to know who your friend's printer was, btw. If someone out there has a different method, I'd like to add them to my contacts for my clients!
