do you guys know of any ladies selling clothes from home? I'm having a tough time finding any....thanks in advance....
makeup:
farah does a pretty good job with makeup and mehndi- a lot of my friends got their bridal hair, makeup and mehndi from her. she charges around $350-$400. she also does airbrushing.
couture beauty also does a good job, but i think their rates are really high. i emailed them for a quote for my wedding, but they never got back to me.
for my wedding, farah was already booked so i ended up going to a local MAC counter with tons of close up prints of dulhans from the bridal section :)....and my artist did an AMAZING job, alh. i got my mehndi, hair, dupatta setting done from a friend.
a tip for you- when getting mehndi done from anyone...don't tell the person you need bridal because they triple the rate!
oh, and i wouldn't go to ziba unless you get your makeup done unless you get it from oscar. he is really good, but again from what i've heard pricey. one of my friends told me she paid him $1000...eeek! the other ziba artists really aren't that great and still charge you a lot.
photography:
samson is really good and popular in the south asian community. he is also very reasonably priced and his pictures and video are pretty good. only con- since so many people book him for their events, he takes a long time getting you your pictures and video (but its well worth it!).
a few of my friends used aacreation and i even considered using him for my own wedding, but went with samson because he is more well known and experienced. from what my friends have told me, aacreation is good and his style is also cool- but his album and video do not compare to samson.
andrena is also an amaaazing photographer, but her rates were $5k and upward for photography only and was out of our budget. you will need to book another separate videographer (most people book robles video when using andrena) and that again is another couple of grand $$$.
....can't think of anything else right now.
oh, and what kind of clothes are you looking for? saris, shalwar kameez? in what sizes? my aunt sells clothes so i can check with her and see what she has in stock.

oscar is wayyyy tooo overpriced and sometimes his work isnt all that great.
im saying go with samson- he is the bestt! he does take a while and he said it himself because sometimes it takes the couple a while to choose what pics they want in their albums.
but when u get ur album u will definitely be satisfied.
andrena did my cousins wedding photography and it was beyond gorgeous but when i found out the price, i realized it wasnt worth it because samson is just as great. andrena deals with many different cultural weddings so she's better in that sense but if ur having a pakistani wedding, samson will be fine.
robles video- didnt excite me at all. nothing extraordinary about it.

Jesse my makeup artist is the BEST makeup artist i've ever had in my life. he is amazing and can do anything you want he takes so much time and is a perfectionist. i love him and he's done a lot of my friends after he did my valima makeup. you can pm me and ill send you his details.
as far as photography i believe travis hoehne is the best as well and he is relatively decent priced. he did my shaadi and valima and mehndi photos. you can pm me if you want to see some of them as well. his website is: for clothes: i don't like any place in artesia or anywhere in southern california for that matter. i would contact designers in pakistan and work with them. a lot of them are willing to do consultations etc via email/phone/etc. i do know that yasmeens in artesia works with faiza samee.
also the best wedding coordinator/designer for any budget is saadia kibriya. you can tell her pakifairy referred you to her. she did my valima decor. you can pm me for her details too.
Hi, Pakifairy... I have seen a couple of girls that have used him as their MA and have to say his work is pretty good. Does he also do like the dupatta settings as well or is it just make up?
Anyone else know of any other good makeup artists based in Southern California besides Farah? How about Arsh of New Look? She's located in San Jose but travels.

My cousin just got married and this one Videographer/Photographer that did the wedding was amazing, I can show you an album of the wedding he did for my friend as well, its super amazing. They are desi and have been in the buisness for over 20 yrs and being desi know exactly how to make it work and the prices are usually depending on the budget of the couple.
