I am from Europe and my fiancé is from New York. To keep a long story short, we were planning on getting married in PK but due to circumstances we have changed our mind and are getting married in the USA. We are planning to have a December wedding in NY, except I have no idea how to arrange things in NYC.. The Walima will be held in his parents town in Florida.
Can you guys help me with some good venues in NY for baraat? There will be about 100 people attending.
Also do you know some good make-up artists? If you could let me know some waxing places too? And female photographers in the NY area? I have no clue how and where to start.
Re: Wedding in NY? Need help for Venue, Make-up, photography
NYC is reallyyy expensive, especially for venues. I'd look into surrounding areas in New Jersey, or Long Island- not only are they more affordable, but the halls themselves are just easier to have events in because of things like having a big parking lot, no city traffic around (unless you're driving through the city to get to NJ/LI). I'd say look into the NYC/Long Island border (like New Hyde Park area. Garden City is very nice, but may be expensive too). If you're willing to go out a bit further on Long Island, PM me and I can share where my valima will be held on Long Island and more details!

Two mostly used venues in LI, NY are Sterling and Antuns.
Sterling is the priority pick among them. I dont know of any big venues in city, most are very small so you have to know in hand how many attendees will be there.

^ SID_NY is right, the Sterling is a hotspot for desi weddings because they have packages with everything included (desi DJ, I think halal food too, decor, etc) and it's more affordable that way. The downside is that since almost everyone has their wedding there, it can feel the same as someone else's wedding. I don't know about Antuns, but I've been to the Sterling before and it's not bad. It's worth looking into other venues as well to shop around and see what you like- also, visit the place in person if possible! Venues can have a totally different feel in person than in pictures.

Does anyone have any suggestions for photography/videography in NY/Long Island area? I'm looking for myself as well. So far I've narrowed it down to House of Talent and maybe NYNJ Photo but they're still kind of eh. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
