I got married in December 2004, mehndi in the Creek Club and wedding in the Sheraton. I went to Cistre's for facial, waxing (mehndi day), touch-ups and make-up (wedding day).
Everything was great.
They have a Sheraton in Karachi???

Serena is the best hotel in ISB, actually it's considered the best in Pakistan. I know for a fact that MeeLee's is very close to Serena. I think Daniella's might also be close but if you look for weddings in ISB threads there is a mention of a new salon that's supposed to be really good. My valima was in ISB and me and my husband stayed at Serena for 3 nights, it was amazing, amazing room, amazing service, amazing decor, and awesome food- room service and in the restaurants.
Re: wedding in karachi!!
For makeup DEFINITELY check out Sabs. I got ready there for my reception. I chose 'engagement' makeup(hairstyle incl) for Rs. 11,000 and it came out amazing. I saw ATLEAST 60 brides that night and each one of them looked mindblowing
Re: wedding in karachi!!

Re: wedding in karachi!!
Sumorani- where did u do ur mehendi?
Re: wedding in karachi!!
^Mehndi and Baraat were both at Ramada Plaza KHI.
I think I wrote this somewhere else on this forum. Anyway, the charges start around Rs.700/ person and they go upto about Rs.2500, they might have changed slightly in the past 4 months cuz of rising costs. Decor is seperate and I dont know what the charges are for that.
If you click on 'meeting room' that will give u an idea of the banquet halls. We don't have high ceilings like the ones at Regent but everything except that is exceptional.
I've already said the bridal room at Regent wasn't good and I didn't have their food. The best thing for you to do would be to go check out all the places you are considering before making a decision based on what people say here.
hi Sumorani,
i finally selected Regent for the function. Their wedding hall is awesome.
I was advised by my relative in khi that the reputation of regent is better than ramada. And Ramada location is not very good as compared to regent.
PC and Avari are looting the public as far as their rates are concerned. Hence i dropped those from my list.
However, i m concerned about the rooms standard in Regent as u told and hence thinking to get arranged bridal room at Marriott.
Re: wedding in karachi!!
^yes i did say Regent has very high ceilings so it gives a grand look to the hall. As far as reputations are concerned, Ramada is a 5 star hotel and Regent is a 4 star hotel in khi so I'm pretty positive that Ramada has the better reputation. Also, Ramada is in a pretty prime location (being close to the airport they get a lot of business) and their halls are always booked for weddings, but it really depends on what area you want to have the wedding in. If you want it right in the center of the city then Marriot, PC, Avari, Sheraton are good. Regent is only 15 min away from Ramada. I'm guessing you should have your relative in khi look at their rooms and let you know what he thinks, you may not have a problem with them.

That's true that Ramada is 5 star chain of hotels. Ramada Plaza of khi is old Mid way hotel of khi. It was purchased, renovated and changed to RAMADA if i m not wrong. My relatives in khi had attended a function at MidWay and they were not impressed with the location. Furthermore, they told me that in Khi, Regent is more famous and better than Ramada and that's y they went for it.
Anyhow, both these hotels were quiet close for selection and my relatives in karachi selected this one. It would have been a good idea to visit both hotels myself but all my family is outside pakistan and they would reach just a month before the actual functions and that's y it had to be decided now.
Re: wedding in karachi!!
^Yeh what matters most is to have a venue booked for the wedding specially during wedding season. The hotel has changed a lot from how it looked during the time it was Midway and now that it's Ramada. It is completely different and I know because I went to the hotel right before renovations began and I was just there a few months ago after it has been running for about 2 yrs. I lived in khi for a few yrs and can say for sure that Ramada is much more popular than Regent even though it's the most recent hotel opened there. Being right next to the airport, many foreigners stay there, it is also right next to CAA headquarters so a lot of political figures come there. And ofcourse during the recent VMA awards many celebrities stayed at the hotel and there have been many upscale concerts there in the recent past. Not to throw down Regent, which is also a great hotel but they rarely ever renovate their facilities so even though when you go into the wedding hall, it has a grand appearance but looks old.

yeh, u may be right. The correct decision as per our wishes can only be made if we r there ourselves or some of our immediate family member is there. This is the main problem with us overseas pakistanis. Also the hotels should invest in their websites with as much details as possible and photographs as part of their marketing compaign which i think Ramada is not doing right now. This certainly affects decisions.
Another thing! Can somebody advise the popular honeymoon destinations outside pak for which visa is easily issued for pakistanis. I will have just 12 days in pak after walima and i want to hurry to a honeymoon destination even if for a 4-5 days before departure from pakistan.
Re: wedding in karachi!!
^Most hotels can't make their own website because it is stated in their contracts if they are taking the name of an existing hotel chain, the parent company markets the hotel on their own website so if you go to Ramada.com you will be able to look up the hotel in khi. But Ramada does a lot of marketing in pakistan which include billboards thru out the city, pamphlets at airports, etc.
Anyway, for honeymoons where paki nationals can easily get visas I would suggest Turkey (Istanbul), Greece (Athens), Tahiti & Bora Bora, Maldives (very popular honeymoon destination), Thailand (Phuket). It realy depends on what you want to do on the honeymoon, if you want it to be romantic and just want to relax than opt for a resort, hotel on the beach where there will be warm weather. If you want to go site-seeing then go to places like Turkey and Greece. I'm sure the places I have mentioned will not be difficult to get to in terms of visa issues.

Hello Everybody,
Just wanted to share my views about the Ramada in Karachi. I had my wedding this past December at the Ramada in Karachi. We opted for the Eiffel hall instead of the poolside lawn. For foreigners (I) and for residents of Pakistan as well, this was an amazing venue. We were looking for a place for sometime, and I'm assuming since this place is relatively new, we were able to book it right away. We did not have an issue with dates, from what I head this place has been gaining popularity, so getting the dates you want may not be as easy. Alhumdullilah, It was a great decision on our part. The service was excellent; the food from what I hear was amazing (I was unfortunate enough not to taste the food, or I did and I can barely remember). We had our wedding cake done from the bakery, and I heard the cake was delicious as well. The entire venue, set-up, service, and people were amazing. We also received a suite for my husband and I to stay in. The suite itself was extremely nice, and indeed clean. I would highly recommend Ramada Plaza for all events. The staff and the catering manager were easy to work with, and extremely cooperative.
Hope this helps.
