I will be getting married in Jan 2014, at present we are only planning on doing the Valima (guys side). I need some advice and suggestions for managing the event for 350 people. We were advised to do the Valima in KDA halls. Since I don’t live in Karachi, neither Pakistan, I cannot decide as I would not be able to view the place. I will be arriving in Karachi few days before the wedding. I also need to know food and the quality/cost. Our family has always used Hanif Rajput catering and they are still very much keen on using his services again, but from what I have heard we is quiet costly around 1200 RS/ person. If anyone has used their service and can confirm my estimate, I would highly appreciate it. As well as, would you guys recommend getting a wedding planner as they should be able to get everything according to our budget? If so what are some recommendation. Lastly, what overall budget should I be looking at for the Valima, an average cost would be very helpful since I don’t know what is consider as over board or under board.
Hanif Rajput is the best food wise but they are also on the expensive end of things..again you don't have to go with elaborate decor but HR is expensive, on the other hand if you're coming from abroad and you want someone that will deliver and is reliable then they are good.
Also what is over board is decided by you, if you're judging by society standards there is never enough you can spend spend spend; from decor, lighting, uplighting, linens, cutlery, food,centerpieces,giveaways, etc until it gets crazy. Decide what you would be comfortable spending. if it's 5 lakhs , then thats what it is. If it's less or more thats what it is. Prioritize according to Food/venue and then decor etc. No matter how good the place looks if the food sucks people complain.

What about photography/video. I just contacted a Alisha Studio photographer for coverage of event for 3 day package for DSLR package and they quoted me 375,000 rs. Please tell me that outrages, as even in Vancouver, they cost isn’t that high up (a good friend of mine is a professional photographer). Anyways, please advise based on your own experience and any sort of online footage & videos of their work would be very appreciable.
