For those who got married or going to get married.
I am looking for ideas how to make a wedding great as well as the food and drink anything like fireworks or inviting a comedian things which would make a wedding really fun and not the usual boring wedding if u get me. Please share.
well im getting married in august too...and the thing which im gonna do on my wedding is that im going to put a guest book for sure..where ppl can write their expeirnce and everything they felt about it at the end!
also when surving food wehave decided to have more than one taste ..eg. not only our traditional indian food...but also chinnese and some sort of italien dishes or atleast will introduce some new ideas....
the food wont be surved in an old styles buffet system...instead we will have different huts for starter main and dessert...but again it depends on ur budget
you can have a real chocolate fountain for kids too!!
the food idea sounds good- i really wanted different food stations at my wedding too but the venue we chose didn't offer that option.
guestbooks are a super nice tradition, i think, and i love going through mine. we had a polaroid camera on the table next to our guestbook, and i assigned a friend to take pics of people before they signed the guestbook. cos the polaroid pics are instant, as soon as it came out and developed, they glued the finished picture into the guestbook above their entry. that way, in years to come, its like a guestbook plus memories! :)
Asimscot, we're having a "mela" like theme for our mehndi..with small stalls with a "churi-wala" "mehndi-wali's" a flower stall..with gajra's and people making fresh puri's..pan..chai etc..
hi...plz can any one suggest me best banquat hall in lahore?actually w have small number of guests 100-120.AND qasr e noor ;sapphire, mughale azam booked minimum 200 guesy?plz plz help me?
i like the stall idea and the polaroid ideas! very creative. i guess a lot of ppl hire dancers....esp since most ppl don tlike to dance. that would be fun. other than that...depends on the type of crowd u have. i know most pakis dont dance but many indians do....i guess try to get everyone to get up and do something. its really hard to make desi weddings fun cuz everyone wants to just eat and leave.

thats why you cut back your guest list and only invite the people who you know, love, and care about, and vice versa, and forget the whole political invite-everyone-in-the-extended-family nonsense :)
weddings are celebrations of a couple's union, but usually end up being 300-400 person events devoid of emotion for all but a tiny percentage of the crowd. if you do that, then great, be happy, but IMO, you can't be complaining that the whole feeling of the event was diluted and people came late, ate, and left immediately after, and nobody danced or had fun.
Since you are looking for out of the box ideas. How about having wedding in a chirya ghar ( Zoo) in day time ? Everybody will love to watch the animals in the cages for free and dawat ka khana is so much better than food they sell at the zoo. Just kidding.
Seriously I am dumb founded with so many nice ideas floating around already which I could never think of. I would like to have my wedding ceremony re-enacted to have fun with those ideas.
The "mela" theme mehndi we're doing in Karachi Inshallah..and we're having an "arabic" mehndi in Dubai a day before we leave for Pak. We have gotten red tents, sheesha's, traditional henna artists, arabic cuisine and a bellydancer too. Very pretty lanterns...
