Wedding guest attire

Is it appropriate to wear mehndi colors such as saffron or yellow to somebody elses mehndi? Is it acceptable more on the mayoon or the mehndi and how far can you go before it looks like you are trying to be the bride? Is it reserved for close relatives?

Id like to make something saffron with some gota as an outfit but Im scared it would be inappropriate as brides wear something similar.

What do you wear to a mehndi then? or a mayoon?

Re: Wedding guest attire

I think yellow is most appropriate on the mayoun but you can also wear it on the mehndi. The outfit you are describing sounds cute, but maybe you want to include some other colors in it, so that you are not wearing all yellow with some gota work b/c that really does sound like a bride's outfit. You can wear anything to a mehndi, really. The more colorful, the better.

Re: Wedding guest attire

I was under the impression that such colours were mehndi colours anyway? All the mehndi's I've been to, people make an effort to wear yellows and greens because they are appropriate for the function.

I'm sure as long as you don't come in with a ghoonghat, escorted by crowds of girls holding a dupatta over your head, no one will confuse you for the bride lol.

Re: Wedding guest attire

This is a case of not wanting to outdo the bride, thus it depends on who the bride is, and her family.

If the bride and her family are known to go all out on someone else's wedding/function, then I would wear such colours without thinking that it's too much because nothing is too much for the bride and her family, as they're always decked out at everyone else's events.

On the other hand, if the bride and her family have a toned-down look at most functions, then I would carefully select my outfits, so as to not clash too much with the bride and her family.
