Wedding film - editing

Hi All - A friend has recently got married in pak and is really dissapointed in her wedding film…the editing and quality (in some places) is very poor.

So she thought maybe she could get it edited here (in the UK) but it is not really possible, was wondering if any of the bigger/well known companies in pakistan would do this?

If yes, please sugguest who to approach and any ideas on cost?

Thanks

Re: Wedding film - editing

What is her videographer saying? And how come anyone can't edit it in the UK (is it on DVD format or VHS?).. I'm sure she can ask for the raw footage from who she hired, if she doesn't haven't it already.. No?

Re: Wedding film - editing

It is in DVD format and she is able to get the raw footage....she has asked a few places and either people are not willing to take it on or it is very expensive.

Re: Wedding film - editing

You get what you pay for.... Maybe that's why the original video is edited so poorly :/

Re: Wedding film - editing

I dunno SGC, mine cost a lot and I ended up with something full of special effects....like my head superimposed onto a bunch of roses emerging from a rainbow kinda thing. I think the editing guy wanted to use every one of his special effects in his software possible. Luckily I got the unedited fims back and one of these days I too will find someone to edit it properly.

Re: Wedding film - editing

Yes you are right, unfortunately it was booked by a family member and she was never consulted, she trusted he would book someone decent.

Any ideas/advice on how to sort it would be much appreciated.

Re: Wedding film - editing

Where in the UK are you? I do video editing as a side line. I've edited wedding films using other people's footage before but I tend to do short, punchy, fast paced music video type films that last between 5 to 10 minutes, rather than the boring hour long videos full of cheesy effects.

For the best results your friend should get hold of the raw footage.

Re: Wedding film - editing

Lol Brit, did you watch any of their vids beforehand?

Re: Wedding film - editing

She should get the raw footage, even if she can't do anything with it just yet.

Keep hunting around and you should be able to find someone who can make a video out of the footage at a reasonable cost. Like Truthador, there are others out there who do it as a hobby or on the side. I've done a couple and it is quite time consuming to produce even a 5 min movie if it's made up of lots of short clips that fit well with the selected music.

A lot of professional videographers over here actually outsource the video production to India.
