Which would be a better idea for the baraat -
- wedding favours with a piece of mithai at each seat
or
- as the nikah is taking place, a tray of mithai is served at each table along with tea/coffee?

both sounds good.. make sure you dont just have mithai.. at my bro in law's nikkah we had mithai with brownies / chocolates / cupcakes, looked so colorful and people loved it

The tray of mithai is good but does that mean no bidh bags?
One bride had the most beautiful concept of bidh bags , It was a frame of a box in some sort of hard kind of wire-with a net cover with all the goodies inside. was biliant mix of sturdy and fragile/dainty.
