I was wondering…does everyone give out favors? and if so…what?
I have been to only a few weddings so i dont have much expereince but it seems like those stupid almonds are just given out and nothing else…what are people giving out nowadays…any suggestions? thanks!

Wasn't there a thread on this before? Just do a google search for wedding favors and you will come up with many ideas. Anything from small organza bags filled with almonds, chocolates to little decorated chinese take out boxes with goodies. You can give candles, name tags, little flowers, chocolate bars with couples name and marriage date....etc

we did three favors... we gave out sandalwood fans for the ceremony (from china town at 90 cents a pop) since it was outdoors and we thought it would be a nice thing for people to cool themselves off with. then we did these little clear cones of mixed nuts during cocktail hour since dinner was at 7 and we didn't want to serve hors d'ourves (sp?). and then at the reception, we had handmade, homemade, ginger spiced fortune cookies. they were really big, about 4" across and they were packaged in white chinese takeout boxes with custom fortunes inside. we didn't spend that much of our budget on favors either which was nice.
if you look around, you will find tons of ideas. try www.theknot.com and brides.com too. we did m&m's, chuwwarey, and those colored, candied almonds for the mehendi favors.

ok thanks guys. but i was hoping for things other than foods...it seems like that gets eaten in 3 seconds and u cant keep it or remember the wedding at all. i dont like food favors i think its sorta ptless (just my opinion) anything else?

well at least food favors get eaten and enjoyed, you know?
my problem with giving small gifts is that they usually end up not being used or appreciated after the wedding. i have so many candles and little vases and stuff like that and in the end, its just more clutter for my house :P

we had small cakes for each fam with the date and names on it...end also a goodie bag it was like a small crochete bag with sweets...almonds with a sweet colourd layer...nuts and other sweets.... it also included a mehndi cone for the girls and a rose :)

well i guess this thread is now pointless...no one has any creative ideas (not talking about those u gave good ideas...i just mean in genreal) ....no wonder i alawys get stuck w. disgusting old almonds at every wedding i go to :(
