Re: Wedding Dress

anyone got pics of wedding outfits with either copper/ rust/ bronze colour?? =)

Re: Wedding Dress

hey i was wondering..if ones got wide hips..wud the mermaid style lehenga be a good idea or is there a better alternative?? please give me feedback n what wud be appropriate.. (:

Re: Wedding Dress

if you have wide hips, stay away from mermaid! its only going to emphasize your bum more and thats not very flattering. an a-line shape is much better because it balances you out visually and mimises your wide hips.

Re: Wedding Dress

Actually, if you are skinny, mermaid outfit will just hang on you. You need to have some meat on your bones for that outfit to look good.

Re: Wedding Dress

Mehnaz is right. Without the curves, that style just doesn't look good.

Re: Wedding Dress

Such pretty dresses..!

Re: Wedding Dress

any pics of a-line shapes please?
but i thought if the person's really tall and a lil adjustment to the hips (instead of it being scavenging to the hips..) a slight alteration should make it look ok? dont u think so??

Re: Wedding Dress

it has to be cut very well, basically. you can always compromise and go for a trumpet shaped skirt- thats a cross between a-line and mermaid.

these are white gowns but you can see the shape/cut very well on them and i think it can easily be fit into a pakistani/indian lehenga/sharara.

this is a mermaid cut- its completely fitted and flares out at the knee. so its a very dramatic cut.

this is a trumpet skirt- here its fitted from the top and then the flare-out portion starts higher up so its a more gentle cut. more flattering too, i think.

usually any pakistani lehenga is cut a-line style, so thats the standard cut. it just flares out like the sides of the letter “A” from your waist. so its like the trumpet skirt but without the fitting at the top.

Re: Wedding Dress

thanks sooo much... =)

ur rite..the trumpet is alot more flatterin than the mermaid style...

cool! thanks anwyas

Re: Wedding Dress

my advice...have an idea of what colors you want...once you get to pakistan this helps focus you...otherwise there is so much choice you're all over the place.

I went with several pics of things i liked, fabrics styles and was focused when i went to the shops. For the wedding dress/walima dress i had the color and then from the rest of the trousseau i just saw what i liked.

Re: Wedding Dress

thats really good advice, amelie! a wedding dress tends to be such an emotional purchase, if you're not focused, it can get really tough. i know i had a hard time deciding between all white, or eggplant/maroon/burnt ornage, or olive green/champagne. in the end, i went with my first choice and stopped second guessing myself and ordered the olive green/champagne.
also with the white one, i wanted the bottom and the dupatta to be lace and chiffon and i was told there is so much variety in pakistan, if you can't go yourself, the end result might not be what you want, and with the eggplant/maroon/burnt orange- well its outdoors in august. i didnt want to be hot in dark colors.

i think i'll get the white lace/chiffon one made either for my younger brother's wife, or for myself for their wedding. haha
i've just been dying to version a gora wedding gown into a lehenga- it would look so pretty! especially if you did the lehenga in lovely french lace with swarovski's ka kaam....
