i have ordered long shirt for Barat & gown/maxi for Walima! Hopefully i'll be able to use these dresses afterwards which is obviously not possible with blouse type shirts!

I'll order long shirts for my shadi and valima! I'll inshallah get married on agu 20122.. i think they can be used afterwards as well as i doubt that fashion will change till then.. I also find then incredibely pretty, which is what it is actually about!
If you're really worried, order your dresses in mid april, they usually have all these bridal fashion showes, couture 365 and whatever they are called, around that time.

I think a lot of people make this too much of a big deal and i always say just go with what you like and what suits you best. I know many girl want that "timeless" effect but seriously, who will care in 20 years from now, yeah maybe you or others might think wow that was really old fashioned but that's ok, it was 20 years ago duh ! just go with what you feel pretty and comfortable in !
i'm also getting married next year and i'm going for long shirt, i know i won't feel comfortable in a short one and i hate the look of them, and i want to make it multifunctional and make it a party dress that i'll be able to wear later.

^ i totally agree. i wont b getting married till the end of next year and tab bhi i ll go for the long,even the very long shirt with my lehnga. for the other jahaiz dresses i ll defintly go trendy n see wht lengths and wht kind of bottoms (trousers,shalwars,choridars etc) are in... but a BIG no no for the short shirts bridal dress.coz even if do wear a short or a knee length shirt i ll hate my dress n i wont b happy with it n hance end up looking bad temperd and uncomfrtble sitting there on the stage.
so just go with whtever u LOVE n not wht the TREND is...

my wedding day is short shirt i personally chose that i think it looked gud and felt right when i wore it , second day my inlaws r choosing but i have a feeling it might be a long shirt , watever u feel cofortable or what suits you best ,i agree with dragon lady dont always follow the trend wear wat u like and wat u feel right in
