^thanks mahismart....i haven't finalized the cards as yet:). Had issues with the wedding dates unfortunately. When did you get them printed?
sumorani...when i last went looking for cards at Pak Chwk in around May, i didnt like any of the cards that were on disaplay...not even @ Prism or Designer Cards. I checked along the entire chowk and was so dissappointed... I agree that of all the shops they were a tad better than the rest, but still had nothing that i liked.
Where in Dubai do you suggest sumorani? i always thought getting cards from pak was better/wiser, but after i saw for myself, i m thinking to look at what Dubai has. I do think that if you design ur own, tht wud come out much better in Pak though.
@sumorani: Could you please describe your card or may be post a pic of it? I have a card idea in mind but I would love to see an Indian card.
@Fingirl: About two years ago, Prism Printers designed a very contemporary burnt orange, Emerald Green wedding card for a wdding in our family. I just told him my idea and we played around with a few card designs and colour swatches. Next we knew I had the card. That is why I recommend them.
The wedding planners I have contacted for my sister's wedding said that they can handle printing of cards as per specifications. Contact them if you like.
This what the the wedding planner Zoreed Raza says at her site:
Make the ‘write’ impression with fabulous wedding invitations. Your wedding stationery is likely to be the first thing many people hear of your wedding and it sets the tone for the whole occasion. We help you to design your cards matching with your wedding theme or other occasions.
We also design handmade invitation cards.
@FinGirl, I agree, there was absolutely nothing nice at Pak chowk. At that point I wish I had ordered the cards from India while I was in NY. Though Prism had the better cards out of the lot and I had even checked many shops inside the narrow streets. I don’t know any place in specific in Dubai that has nice cards, just have seen nice wedding cards ordered from there on other people’s weddings.
it looks much better in person though, its not as bright as the yellow on the site. EVERYONE loved the cards. personally i like cards with stones on them. we were initially gonna go with a ‘storybook card’ which has like 10 pages, made out of cardboard, but not only was that too extravagant for me (dad was insisting we order those from india) but they needed like 3-4 months to make them cuz they’re huge.
btw, if ur in pak and will be ordering cards from overseas, i suggest u dont buy them from india because the delivery charges and customs duty will end up costing more than the cards themselves. however, if u know someone thats coming from india, that would be good.
@sumorani: O My God! I was thinking about the same card. I so want it for my sister’s wedding. I was thinking about adding red to the envelopes and giving a yellow paisely backgroung to the white inserts with red lettering. I absolutely love this one! Thanks!
@mahismart: i was looking for something that does'nt have too much happening in it. I also didn't want a regular card-size...somewhat half of it. Like you said, you had seen something you liked and used that as an inspiration....when i went looking for cards @ the Chowk, nothing clicked me. Who is doing ur sis's wedding?
Well, i guess i would have to check out some shops in Dubai, and perhaps get them replicated in Pak.
That sounds really pretty. But I feel that if you try to do the inserts completely yellow it might be too yellowish because the entire card is yellow excluding the inserts. also on that website, u can order samples so that will really help in making the final decision. that card is absolutely gorgeous in person.
Any idea how long Prism printers or others at Pakistan Chowk take to print cards (considering the electricity issues in Karachi these days). I have a template that i want to get printed, will that require more time for them to print? Can someone help me by passing their phone number!
Really! YOu mean the whole process? I heard they take atleast 2 weeks and that includes making a sample that you would proof read before they send the entire order for printing.

The time taken is in making the film which is used for printing.. Once that is made, all that has to be done is printing.. Once the sample is ready and approved, it takes just a little time to print, let them get dry, pack 'em up and deliver to the customer!
OMG THIS IS BEAUTIFULL… i was thinking of somthing VERYYY similarr to dis..but different background colour and maybe like a scroll.. but MASHALLAHH
BEAUTIFULL
