I am looking around for Wedding CAKE stores in the Toronto area. Do you know any names/ links in this area?
Especially interested in indian/desi themed ones…but doenst matter for now. I’ve also heard of ppl having a fake cake at their wedding! for example the first layer is real..and the other tiers are fake..has anyone heard of this? Is it more convenient and cheaper?
Pls post pics of Wedding Cake pics if you guys have!!
everyone should be willing to do it! you can either go to bakeries- italian bakeries esp are very good with wedding cakes- or find independent bakers through facebook. you can have three small tiers that are real to feed your guests, and the fourth one at the bottom can be fake to add more drama to your cake. depending on how many guests you have, you can also do the slab cake thing in addition. be sure to check with your venue to see if they plate and serve cake slices and at what cost.
Irene did THE most beautiful cake for my friend’s wedding. My friend is Italian and showed her a picture of her dress and Irene was able to replicate the pattern on it. Plus, that cake was SO YUMMY, mmm… every last piece was gone! And I think Irene did it for a ridiculous low price- it was three real tiers, one fake tier (the very bottom one) and it was displayed on this gorgeous silver cake stand, and I think in the end, my friend paid around $400 for it which is a crazy good price for a cake that size.

What do you gals think about cupcakes? I loveeee the idea of having them, and then simply having them handed out to my guests! No cutting costs! And then you have them decorated on the cupcake stand, and then you and hubby cut into a little mini cake on top.
^ we (my friend- Sara Baig from Sara Baig Designs ;)- and I) did that for my brother’s valima. it was a really big hit with all our guests. we got the cupcakes from Life is Sweet out on Queen East- soooo yummy! mmmm…
we had chocolate chip, coconut, and mango tea with lime icing.
we placed them on sheets of glass raised up in square glass vases with roses inside. her jora was ivory and turquoise so we used turquoise ribbon to accent everything. i got the metal initials for their cake from www.weddingstar.com, and i designed tags for each flavour that was along the same lines as their wedding and day-of stationery. this was by far the funnest part of planning their valima!
