Wedding Anniversary

If one had Nikkah first and Rukhsati happened few month later, then when is his/her wedding anniversary, day of nikkah or rukhsati.
Marriage certificate has date of nikkah obviously.

I would consider the date of the nikah as the anniversary.......
when the marriage was consumated would not be that important.

**wedding anniversaries are about the union of the couples. if no union has taken place then what's there to celebrate. sometimes, ruKhsatii happens after a year or two then in that case are the couples gonna celebrate anniversary separately?

Day of the nikkah. Rukhsatis don't have anything to do with being married or not lol.

should be nikkah ..but some people celebrate it since the time they start living together i.e. after rukhsati !

Marriage Anniversary when you got married (Nikah).

Wedding Anniversary on the day of wedding.

Actually it should be the date that is on the marriage certificate.

We had our nikah done 15 days before our marriage ceremony (happened at the mayors office of the city we were living in). Our marriage certificate has the ceremony date, not the Nikah. That date is our anniversary

Thanks for responses, indeed it seems like debatable topic.

I have date of nikah on my marriage certificate. Some couple even celebrate it on lunar calendar.

I think the date of nikkah as that is when you are married.

Celebrate them both. Nikkah-versary and anniversary, or anniversary and rukhsati-versary :p. More to celebrate, more happiness.

we celebrate both.. since our Nikkah was on the Mehndi, a day before rukhsati... I gave a hubby a gift for Nikkah anniversary, flowers next day & And another gift the following day. Nikkah, Wedding & Valima :) did this on our 1st anniversary.. :)

I was confused in this as i had nikah and ruksati will be few months later.. yes we can celebrate both the days but i still want to know exactly which date is considered as wedding anniversary date ?

Just pick whichever. Then, when one or the other of you forgets to buy a present, it can be claimed that the forgotter had thought the other date was the actual anniversary. You have to plan these things in advance.
