People who had their nikkah a few days, weeks, month before the actual wedding day (Barat)..
when do you celebrate your Wedding Anniversary? NIkkah or Rukhsati…?
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
I think mostly ppl do it when u actually start living together, that wod b the rukhsati.
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
Ok..
Our is coming soon! And we'r thinking when to celebrate..
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
we celebrate our nikkah day but most ppl celebrate when they start living together..
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
I'd say if they're over a month apart celebrate both!
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
celebrate both :)
what are you guys planning to do by the way??
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
The nikkah should definitely be celebrated. That is the actual marriage!
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
we celebrate the actual wedding day (rukhsati)
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
It's kind of ironic if you celebrate the nikaah, but you go by the Gregorian calendar, right? Like if your nikaah was on July 4th, which was, let's say Rabbi ul Awwal 3rd. Every year you are celebrating on July 4th the nikaah, the Islamic marriage, but you are 10 days off of the Islamic date as each consecutive year goes by...
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
we celebrate both with a nice dinner and a movie. Usually people that live around us celebrate with us on our actual wedding reception because our nikkah was done in pakistan and very few remember that date.
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
Nikah is main date...& im planning to make my wedding in my Nikkah anniversary just its according islamic calendar in same date...but forever ill celebrate my nikah date which in calendar not ismalic one as its hard to remind islamic calnedar due to less use...
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
My nikkah was about 6 months before the rukhsati. We celebrate the nikkah anniversary, because thats when we got married and started our new life together, regardless of when we moved in together
But for some people, nikkah is just a signature on a paper and just seen as a more committed engagement of sorts, so for them their rukhsati/walima date has more meaning
Re: Wedding Anniversary…
Its not really ironic. To each their own. If you want to celebrate by the Islamic lunar calendar, go ahead. Most people dont have a clear idea of what the Islamic dates usually are, except for certain key events throughout the year either by the fasts kept or celebrations, like Ramadan, Eid, Dhul Hijjah, Muharram etc. Some people have a hard enough time remembering their anniversaries with the calendar they use everyday, imagine if they had to remember the Islamic dates as well ![]()
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
yes muslimah ...midnight says true...
we celebrate nikah not for its datein islamic calendar but as we consider our marriage on that date! that date was in both islamic & another calendar so we cant celebrate in islam as we dont remind it...
for me im using our calendar not western nor islamic as we dont use none of them so for me main is wat we use daily so i can remind my dates!
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
nikha celebration all the way
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
I'd say Nikkah too, I mean the rukhsati is just a formality? The Nikkah signifies your marriage, that is the day you become husband and wife.
Re: Wedding Anniversary...
I celeberate both.
