I am looking to get a website made these days and was browsing through loads of website builder sites. I myself suck at programming so did not even bother trying it.
So my question to you guys. Is it worth going through these builder sites? or should i get it done through a freelance developer etc?
It is going to be a services oriented website. With basic about us section, then details of services we will be offering, a resources section and contact us options.. nothing fancy. Just something that works...
We can do a thing . . . Seb you buy URL . . . Niki will write the code . . . and I can host the site . . . and lets write step by step procedure in a thread dedicated to this website . . .
For the last few years, I’ve been playing around and making random websites from a few different “web site builders”. It started as a hobby, but I’ve built a few sites for non-profit organizations, as well as just random sites for school fundraisers and such.
The site builder I find to be the most user friendly is free webs. They literally do all of the work for you. All you have to do is pick a template, change the colors, fonts, etc. to how you want. Once you get the basic look down, throw in a few pages, add widgets, blah blah blah… all that fun stuff! Lol..
The best part is, if you wanted, you can even add your own html codes. :balley:
When all is said and done, you will get a link (for free) which will include “.webs” in it, but, they do have their own hosting service. It is a little pricey compared to other web hosts. I haven’t tried hosting from another host, not completely sure if it’s even possible. :hmmm:
I’ll throw in a link for one of the sites I’ve been working on from there. It’s nothing special (def still a work in progress!!! ) But I utilized most of the layouts, widgets, and features that the builder/ support tools have to offer.
^ Great job Mano . Well thats how we all started . I remember my first site was in MS Front Page . With practice you can do a lot of fancy stuff in it .
Over the years websites have evolved a lot . From static HTML pages to dynamic AJAX driven pages . Now people are trying to make it more desktop application like and more user friendly .
Keep your passion alive and you might be able to make good moola out of it
