I dont wear such symbols, its not the symbol that is important but the faith in it.
I even question people who have the verses from quraan on tapestry or frames in their house or in the car, because its not the verses that will protect you or guide you bu the faith in them.

A friend of mine is on the same wavelength as me but says that putting the verses on his door or in his car reminds him to pray everytime he leaves home and returns. That I am fine with.

These are my thoughts and I could be wrong.

Fraudia, the same may be applied to people who think idol-worshipping is cool. Because it is not the idol they are worshipping but the god behind the idol. But of course you will not agree with that because you have been told otherwise.

Like your friend is reminded of allah seeing those little symbols, idol worshippers remember god whenever they see one. SIMPLE, isn't it. I know, but you don't have to tell that you cannot accept the same because it is not allowed in Islam.

Dhir

my stance on religion can be summarised as in, you do what you do and I do what I do.
In my view what you are saying the precisely the reason that symbolism as such is not liked in Islam, atleast in what I have been taught, becuase to some people symbols become more important than the faith and the essence of belief.

I am a simple guy and I go for simple solutions, i.e. if I dont wear symbols and someone does, I can only tell them why i dont, and understand why they do.

same goes for other religion's, I will not follow another religion but I understand why they do certain things. Understanding and agreement are different ideas.

If people spend a little more time towards mutual understanding, and not force agreement we will be in a much better place.

Dhir, what is up with you being sarcastic ?

Dhir, there still would be a difference between remembering one God through a symbol, and three or a few million Gods through symbols.

Paagal, you are true to your name. How do you think believing in one god is more logical than believing in say 10 gods or believing in no god at all. 1 god or 1000 gods - both of them are only beliefs. So why make a fuss of it.

And Fraudia, I am really impressed by your reasoning. In fact thats the way it should be.

hey hana!!!

well it is not recommended that one wear pendants with surahs...or pictures of the kaaba etc because then most of the time..ppl feel that the PENDANT is giving them strengh, or protection or whatever..and that's shirk..(associations with Allah swt. The words have the power when u recite them..not when they're on gold.

Exactly Hinna sis…ive been thinkin abt this myself…if its in ure heart not for showwwwwwww
