Did you see Sharmila Farooqi’s engagement pictures? She’s wearing black. What do you guys think? Would you ever wear black on your engagement?
My family would never let me but its probably because it’s associated with mourning in my family.

I would personally like a dark brown color with maroon etc instead of black. The black and silver combination is so old and you can’t really add much colors with black! Mourning and all is another aspect, but I really want something very different for my wedding. Light colors with a touch of dark look so good and delicate type.

Yes, I would definitely wear black to "happy" events like engagements, wedding etc. There was a time when a bride wearing white/beige etc. was unheard of. Clearly that's changed now. With time, I think the taboo associated with wearing black will also change.

I have been told quite several times that black is associated with mourning and that one shouldn't wear it on happy occasions but I totally disagree this! Also you may have seen that there are women (specially at the side of India) start wearing white color when their husband pass away or things like that.
I understand we may be careful while attending funerals too by not wearing too bright or shocking colors but if one appears in pink or red doesn't mean she has no grief for her relative!!
Black is a really beautiful and elegant color and also Kaaba Sharif has a Black beautiful cover! why not think about that? White is a very beautiful and pure color and it is the favorite color of Our Holy Prophet PBUH. :)
Wear every color.. according to the occasion but please do not associate it with mourning or happiness. Its your heart where you feel grief or happiness but not the color of your dress!

it will be entirely a religious discussion if we speak over that in this forum. But to elaborate a bit more, its, some say it was green color and others say it was white, while it has also been said that both the colors were his favorite.

As far as I knew it was Green colour. No ,I don’t need to open a thread on this, I don’t mind whatever colour I wear.

Personally I’d like to wear a light color, nothing too bright or dull. So no black for me. But she looks nice.
Also is it just me or her mummy looks more dulhan than sharmeela herself?

Honestly, I thought Black was associated with mourning in the Western culture and white in the Pakistani culture.

I don't like black for a Mendhi dress at all!
I just think it's such a gloomy and aggressive colour to wear. Of all the stunningly, amazing colours out there why pick black?!
