I’m going to visit Karachi for a few weeks after Eid. Usually I wear Lawn kameez shalwar when I go shopping or where ever because of the heat. But I am always uncomfortable because it sticks to your body in the heat and its annoying to wear the dupatta.
Because I wear hijab, I am thinking that this time I will just wear what ever clothes and wear an Abaya over it with my hijab. This way I can avoid wearing a dupatta and stay comfortable while shopping etc.
Also, the men in Karachi have a disgusting staring problem, so even will all these clothes on I still feel naked!
What do you guys think? Will an abaya and light cotton hijab be ok or will that look odd?
I understand it would be hot in pakistan i dont really like those saudi black abayas you might not be comfortable in them, a nice cotton kaftan dress would be better for pakistan especially as you are not used to wearing it -
why will you feel naked if you are wearing an abaya ! yes you can wear abaya with a light cotton hijab as weather is hot here ! ....
Because that is how the stares make you feel! I experienced the same when I went for umrah - wearing an abaya, hijab and looking 13 years old with no makeup or anything and yet they make you feel soooooooo uncomfortable. And this in Makkah too, not in Medina or Jeddah.
yeah men stare regardless of the abaya.. i usually go to the bazaar without any makeup on. and even if I wear a shalwar kameez i make my dupatta into the hijaab to coverup fully - also, I never go out without my hubs or atleast ONE man from the family, be it my devar or jaith.
