Wearing a Niqab in the West

Then why hide face?

I have limited knowledge about religion. But whatever I know did not say hide your face. No real example also. Just twist of words.

QUERIES ON ISLAM

There is no clear-cut authentic hadith to the effect of making the face veil obligatory. Those scholars, who insist that covering the face is obligatory for Muslim women, interpret ‘al-idnaa’ in the verse of the jilbaab (Al-Qur’an: 33:59) to mean, “covering the face”.

What it means is any interpretation of face covering was just an addition from the person who interpreted the meaning of Quran or Hadeeth. They use face coverings in brackets. ( )

Its not like a man will start thinking sexual thought by just looking any woman’s face.

A- Many women just not that pretty anyway. Just admit it.
It just amuses me when not so attractive women try to hide them (specially at old age) from men. I want to say; Aunty Kaun Dekh raha Hai Aap Ko? Kaahe Ko Sharmana? Even religion allowed them not to do so much parda/hiding.

B- Any person can think of sexual thoughts by even looking at the eys only.

C- So what, he will be punished anyway if not keeping his thoughts clean.

D- A woman attractive to another woman’s beauty is not even talked about.

E- The women are allowed to peek through the burqa on attractive men. How come hey are trusted so much compared to men? Are women borne angels?

One can never be sure if someone male/female/older child is having sexual thoughts or not.

F- It makes all the sense to follow simple rules of modesty, wearing lose enough clothes, avoid circumstancs or actions which could bring wrong thoughts or actions etc. Both for men and women.

G- Somehow we have made women as sex symbol in our own way. the “religious” way.

P.S.
I am not expecting anyone to agree with it but I do know people no matter how educated they are just lose simple common sense when talk about religion.

The common sense is so lacking and not so common.

Re: Wearing a Niqab in the West

Assalamualaikum,
Prophet pbuh said in his last sermon "All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. "
There piety is also known as taqwa. So when someone tries to do something to be closer to Allah, if the intension is just to please Allah then that's something to respect, admire and encourage. I personally don't think niqab is required either. I, myself rather wear hijab alone than niqab and hijab, as i believe that's what we are responsible of. But then if someone intends to wear niqab interms of taqwa, just to please her Creator i'd admire her commitment and say "Jazaki Allah Khairan". Even while michael (or mikael) jackson changes his skin color, this is a "choice" and we all respect, but then when a sister wants to change her dresscode with sucha sweet intention that's something "bad" or "unacceptable". We can be tolerant to our sisters as we tolerate girls with minis and bikinis on streets, no?
May Allah let you do what's khair for you sarah sister :)

Re: Wearing a Niqab in the West

Peace All

Just some words of caution: First of all may Allah indeed reward all those with good intentions. Ameen.

Sisters who wish to wear niqab if they should do this thinking it a requirement then they are misled. If it is considered part of the mandatory hijab then it should be called a bid'a.

We should view niqab in a similar context to some fiqh rulings. Which dependent on the condition of the society can either be implemented or lifted.

Therefore the argument used that so and so wears niqab to please Allah (SWT) and is not concerned about pleasing people is a flawed argument on two counts:

1) It is not an issue which can be classed as Jihad (which is a requisite)
2) The effects of such thoughts have negative impacts on society

We should consider the hikmah why niqab has not been made necessary it is because societies can be mature and immature. And in immature societies niqab has a detrimental effect rather than a positive one. Modesty is not for Allah (SWT) it is for society. So by neglecting this fact and thinking it Jihad to do so nonetheless might be a misled thought.

Though there is no attack being made on intention. We should also consider further hikmah on leaving the face uncovered. Though some women are beautiful to look at just as most men are not, we should remember that if we were to cover we would then not be identifiable. Is it not the right of a Muslim woman to be an identity? Moreso, is it not the right of society to be able to identify you?

^ Great. Loved the bolded sentence specially.

Doing something to please Allah when it is not even required by Allah appears to have no meaning and can be harmful.

Example;
Someone start fasting everyday to please Allah.

Someone prays Full Farad rakat even while travelling.

Even the prophet SAW was told not to put restriction upon him which was not asked for. (I do not remember but it was something to do with not eating something)

Re: Wearing a Niqab in the West

I am all for covering the head, but there is no clarity on covering the face. It gives me the creeps when i see women in Niqaab, specially since the "chicks with sticks" season of Laal Masjid.

Dear Ladies advocating Niqaab please answer this "why are you ordered not to cover it during Hajj?"
