Well, the Bush administration recently publicly admitted to eavesdropping on people. And, I guess they have a right to do that. I mean, no country can allow foreigners to do as they please in their territorry…strict surveillance is necessary perhaps. However, when any administration eaves- and eye- drops on people, there is huge abuse potential there. People in position of great power have a great tendency to abuse that power, and unfortunately USA is no exception. The people who refuse to put up with such great degree of abuse, always have the option to return to their own country…a matter of choice of course, and if they survive in the process of doing so. However, many who return to their own country in hope of finding some peace and serenity, find that not just theirs but the whole country’s privacy is being violated. And USA is not just using this information for their own defense purposes, but to actually attack other individuals and countries. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that NASA and their space program played a major role in America’s war against Afghanistan and Iraq. With such off-balance of power, is there any point of America going to war with any country? Why not just say, “Step aside, we are here to destroy your country and your people, and you can’t stop us.” With the amount of destruction that it has caused with a mascre of thousands, one begins to wonder if America has the capability of handling the weapons of mass destruction that it possesses. It is world dictatorship at its worst. The CNN keeps showing the footage of people with rifles. They are simple mountain people for whom carrying a rifle is part of their identity. They are brave people. It is only a cowrd that cannot be trusted because a coward destroys anything and anyone he is afraid of. Is America afraid of people with rifles?
Re: Weapons of Mass Destruction
Here is an article in this morning’s Washington Post.
Re: Weapons of Mass Destruction
President Dwight. D. Eisenhower forsaw this. In 1961 he stated, in his last speech as President....
**This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence -- economic, political, even spiritual -- is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. **
In short... if you spend this much on your military industry, it will become powerful enough to compel the country to become aggressive.
