'We won't make that mistake again."

Robert Gates on his visit to Pakistan stressed that United States is in Afghanistan for a long haul and they will not abandon Afghanistan like they did before:-

Considering that they will stay for a long haul, do you think that is the answer to the problems Afghanistan is facing today? Do you think American presence can solve the crisis in Afghanistan, military and financial wise? Why or why not?

Re: 'We won't make that mistake again."

The crusaders will be driven out of Afghanistan, inshallah. How can you even suggest that the presence of swine-eating, wine-drinking fornicating brutes can be beneficial for a Muslim country?

Re: 'We won't make that mistake again."

First of all Screw afghanistan......
its apparent that USA is enforcing their long term planning......they needed land ..... they had an excuse(9-11) and they got it . To keep their forces in Afghansitan is in the best interest for US. If in case they invade iran the'll attack from three different fronts. And thats why they would never leave afghanistan now. They have made pakistan crippled for 4 more years buy signing arms deal which will end in 2011.Now pakistan cant say anything cuz keeping our mouth shut is in our best interest and who cares about afghanistan. Frankly speaking the whole retard country can go to hell.

Re: 'We won't make that mistake again."

Seems like all of us have a propensity for violence and are not ready to address any issue without using such a hate-filled language.
While Pakistanis have absolutely no love or brotherly feelings for their neighbour to the North West ever since its inception for reasons quite genuine, Pakistan has also had 'its way' in Afghanistan and is without doubt culpable for the unnecessary interference in the Afghan Affairs. Lest it be forgotten, a host of actors and a number of factors are resposnsible for transforming the country into what it is today, where the wretched of the earth are as insecure and as vulnerable as they were a decade or so back. Hence, we should be careful before referring the entire county as 'retard.'
Americans want a base in this area so that they can keep a check on China in the North and Iran in West Asia and in my view to keep a check on the Black Sea and Caspian region rich in hitherto untapped oil and gas resources. They already have bases if I am not wrong in key Central Asian states much to the consternation of China and Russia.
THere have been reports of CIA's involvement in the Afghan drug trade.anything is possible for we are talking about the USA here.

Re: 'We won't make that mistake again."

a key for better afghabnistan to give control of afghanistan to pashtuns from farsiwaans

Re: 'We won't make that mistake again."

^ well, I dont think we (Pakistan) are in a position to dictate that anymore... Plus, I think regardless of what we personally think, it should be upto the people of that country as a whole, to decide who takes control...

Re: 'We won't make that mistake again."

pretty harsh on someting we are not sure about.... if we are talking in regards to the CIA, may want to check our own ISI for having caused chaos in india by killing people....

Re: 'We won't make that mistake again."

yes by the same people who use kids as human shields.

Re: 'We won't make that mistake again."

I dont want to add any more on this issue except saying that Afghanis are thankless Bass. Poor country like Pakistan is bending over backwards to help them out. 4 million refugees being fed and clothed in Pakistan for the last 20 years, $300 million in aid, 1000 trucks and buses, 300km of road construction and the list goes on and on. In return what does Pakistan get? Drugs and Karzai's regular Pakistan bashing.

Re: 'We won’t make that mistake again."

US and its NATO ally seems to be gearing up for another spring offensive. US National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley highlighted the importance of winning the war in Afghanistan.

Failure in Afghanistan would threaten US, European security: US adviser

Re: 'We won’t make that mistake again."

They will always hate Pakistan and Pakistanis no matter who is in charge there… Character of Afghanistan is such.
