We want peace but on our terms, we can't fight powerful, so we will kill the weak.
we should slice our tongue off if we can't negotiate a deal with our countrymen.
Indeed we can surrender when it comes to fight a real war with our enemies, but can't and will not negotiate with our own people.
Indeed, we want peace but soaked in blood, we want glory in the graveyard of innocent. We are a nation of principals, we are at WAR.
All nice rhetoric but when the other side is not prepared to listen and is hell bent on pushing its agenda by force than either you fight for your freedom or meekly surrender to them,, I know which one I will choose.
There have been plenty of negotiations actually and lots of failed peace deals. The latest peace deal was another attempt to distill the cultural traditions of the people living in the area and allow them to practice their way of life: Provided they renounce militancy. The Taliban have ensured that this would not succeed. You have to remember some of these Taliban are not Pakistan citizens, as the pak army said the other day.
I am also uncomfortable with the surge of hate and blood lust towards everyone north or west of Peshawar. This rise in the passions of our citizens may be the trigger that will finally prompt the government and the military to seriously attempt to solve this problem. The Taliban leaders warrant a freeze on our sympathy, but not so much some unemployed foot soldiers looking for money or brainwashed madrasa students who have had their sense of reality altered. For these there has to be room for rehabilitation.
Eventually, there is no option but to confront them militarily. Actually there may have been no option other than this starting in 2001 & we are late already.
The Saudi have been successful with some deprogramming half-way houses, or rahab programs for Jihadis. Maybe we should set up these types of places as well along with fierce regulation of madrasas.
links to the Saudi program in case someone doesnt know about them.
i hope i never have to applaud army on an operation like current one. Though i feel for the blood that is being shed on both sides. it is a tragic situation and i would never egg them on in this mission.

And that's the problem. You need to have some kind of backbone to fight this kind of war. It has just begun.
dehumanising enemy is something employed by tyrants in war. islamically the concept of rats and dogs is just not applicable because these species donot deserve a human treatment. where as even if (and this a is a big if) you are completely in the right and the opponent completely in the wrong, dehumanising is essentially wrong because it leads to war crimes, loss of rights of prisoner of war and absolute down hill trip from humanitarian rights.

i think fearing Allah is more important to me than show casing my back bone. a drop of innocent blood should weigh more heavily on our conscience then diatribes about backbones.

You have to dehumanize the enemy a little bit, otherwise it becomes harder to kill them as has been the case in pakistan. This is why we have had so many peace deals which have emboldened the talibs to this point.

It's called a war for a reason. To think innocents do not die in war is to blind yourself to reality. I too wish the pakistani army used better tactics, but that's not under my control. War has been imposed on pakistan by the taliban.

Fear of Allah does not mean you surrender to anyone and everyone. In order to defend larger population you do take risks, besides army announces evacuation of areas they want to fight militants in.
^ yep no surrender but no insane blood shed either. essentially we cannot differetiate between trouble and misguided and righteous so we cannot advocate a military solution.
I hope this thing gets settled ones and for all. I hope Pak Army exterminates these taliban vermins. This menace must be rooted out if we're to progress, if we're to secure a good future for our next generation. This muslim khan..****, he's so brave, he went into hiding the moment Pak Army got in Swat. I hope you die like a rat you a-hole.
