I read this book over the past few days after watching the theatrical trailer for the movie version, which is currently in theatres.
The book is written in the form of letters sent by a wife to her estranged husband regarding their son Kevin. Kevin is a teenage boy who decided to go on a killing spree at his high school, Columbine style. It chronicles the life of the mother and son up to the day he went on his rampage.
We never hear about the parents of these kids who kill and destroy. Although this book is fictional, it’s so real and heart breaking.
Has anybody else read it? This is the first fictional book I have read in a really long time. I’m glad I read it.
I just finished it last week! I had been meaning to read it for a long time, and when i heard aobut the film, i decided i'd better read it in case i wanna see the film.
I thought it was fab, a really thought provoking read! Witty and sad and just really really brilliantly written! It did take me a little while to get into it, cos of the way its set out, and theres not a lot of dialouge, but its a very worthy read.
Are you planning on seeing the film? I heard it's different from the film in that it's not centred arouind letters the way the book is but i guess that might have been hard to bring to the screen.
Sazzie, after reading the book, I really want to watch the movie. Even though I know they have changed the format and how the story will actually be told .... I still want to see it.
