It has become very common these days, on TV, facebook, many Pakistani muslims proudly say this.

if we study this statement carefully “We have ruled India for 1000 years”

Who are “we”?

“Who” ruled?

“Who” got ruled?

For centuries, many Invader have raided plains of India from central asia.

These invaders were muslim and were not indian. During their rule in some parts of India, a chunk of Indian population converted to islam.

Today, these converted people of the sub-continent claim to have ruled india for a thousand years, but the truth is we all were ruled by outsiders for these years.

Just like British Chirstians ruled India for 200 years, during these year a chunk of Indians got converted to Christianity…

Today, Indian or pakistani Chirstians converts never claim to have ruled India for 200 years.

I’ve personally have never seen any Chirstian of the sub-continent proudly proclaiming that we christians ruled India for 200 years. Even if they do, that will be totally absurd and moronic.

But, why does a muslim of the sub-continent utter such statement ???

Grand father of Muhammad Ali Jinnah was Gokuldas Meghji, a Hindu.
Grand father of Allama Iqbal was Sahaj Ram Sapru was a Hindu.

Great muslim visionaries of the sub-continent have never used the statement “We have ruled India for 1000 years”.

Why has this moronic statement become a fashion statement today??

So, if a pakistani Christian, who cleans roads and gutters says, we have ruled Pakistan for 200 years, that does not sound funny to you???

its simple. british colonialists didnt define their identity as Christians. they identified it as British. contrast that with Muslim conquests and you'll have your answer.

and like Hareem says, you're defining identity racially, others choose to do so based on religion.

The history taught in Pakistan is to blame.

Pakistan's have invented claims of being of 'martial race', 1 Pakistani = 10 Hindu's.
Pakistanis think they are fairer, taller than Hindus.

All the murders, rapes, looting & forcible conversions by the invaders never took place and the Invaders came to save them from the cruel Hindu kings.
Their history tells them they ** they **ruled over India for 700 years..Pakistani hate being told that their ancestors were Hindu's.

There is an "identity crisis" in pakistan.

Agreed. No to mention the fact that the comparison between Muslim rulers of the Subcontinent and British colonial rule isn't really valid. The "foreign" Muslim aristocracy didn't rule India as a distant colony - they settled in India, and ultimately incorporated themselves into the hybrid Indo-Persian Muslim culture of the Subcontinent. Their descendants didn't "return" to Turkestan and the Middle East when Muslim rule came to an end, rather they stayed on in Pakistan/India/Bangladesh and identified themselves with those national identities.

The British never incorporated themselves into local culture. They ruled India as long as they could profitably exploit it, and when the time came, they packed their bags and left. There's no reason for the Christian community in the Subcontinent to identify with them.

I never cease to be amazed by some of the nonsense Indians try to claim sometimes.

`We ruled India for 1000 years' was a statement that had been used to exploit the feelings of Muslim community,especially during the years of partition and during the troublesome times of post-partition. It is quite evident that the invaders ruled the Indian subcontinent and all it's people irrespective of the caste and religion.Even Indian Muslims had suffered under the invaders.

The statement got its momentum,at a time when the state of Pakistan was being lurked as a reality.I believe this statement is the result of a nostalgia some people had lived with ,after the British take over of India,ousting the last Moghal emperor.

Didn't all kings, irrespective of religion and ethnicity, rule and subjugate the common Indian man as absolute monarchs? What do you Indians claim that the Subcontinent's Hindu and Sikh kings did? In your revisionist history, were they running around distributing welfare checks to peasants?

Why the singular obsession with vilifying Muslim monarchs, while ignoring the fact that Hindu kings ruled in much the same way? Frankly it sounds like ideological and cultural warfare against the Subcontinent's Muslim heritage.

I really don't see where the big problem is. The british colonizers did not breed with the locals (only to a limited extent if it happened at all), and they left completely after whatever period of time they were there for.

The conquerors collectively labelled "muslim" came from a variety of areas -- Turkey, Central Asia, Arabia etc. -- and during the period they lived in India, they chose to intermarry with the locals and thus leave their genetic imprint on the Indian native population. They did not vacate India for their ancestral homeland but lived, died, married and had children there. A lot of Pakistanis will today identify with such folks. I don't see what the fuss is about and why this is such a difficult thing to understand lol.

Invaders had caused a considerale detrimential to Indian culture and it's religion where as local Kings played a very little role in that fashion.

Nobody is demonising Muslim rulers.Rulers like Shershah,Babar,Humayun,Akbar stand out and are acknowledged and praised even today ,for their pragmatic approaches and visions.

Ofcourse bad guys like Timor,Aurangazeb,Tipu etc still receive contempt.

BTW:- Aurangazeb and Tipu were pure desi guys.
