We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten except that We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it. Do you not know that Allah is over all things competent?
[Qur’aan 2:106]
The Jews were jealous of the Muslims when they were ordered to face the Ka’bah in prayer and would ridicule Islam. They would say that Muhammad orders his Companions with a ruling and then forbids them from it. Thus, this Qur’aan is not but from him and that is why a portion of it abrogates another portion. Upon that Allah revealed the above mentioned Verse.
This Verse is explicit evidence of abrogation taking place in the Qur’aan which is denied by some new deviant groups. They try to interpret this Verse and others, in which the concept of abrogation has been specifically mentioned, in accordance with their whims.
