Re: "We are tired of military rule" - A statement by some concerned Pakistani citizens
The problem with using the whole "he has a relative who was a Minister argument" is silly, judging a person by their relations is confusing personal dislikes with reality. None of those on that list bar one or two whom i have heard unpleasant things about are accused of corruption nor are most people who have any links with either the opposition or the military, and finally they are people who have shown they are not power mad. What more credibility do they need?
The problem is with some of the responses..is you have certain kinds of people who are simply pro authority in Pakistan. Its when people confuse their blind dislike for people (who may or may not deserve that hatred) with whats good for a country. Their arguments are simply broken down into a few parts
1) Supporting democracy is supporting corruption
2) Army rule is neccessary because the people are too stupid to make the right choices.
3) There is no (or much less) corruption in the present government, and there is no proof of corruption in the present government (the absence of proof does not seem to bother them when it comes to BB & NS)
4) Waderos and feudals are Pakistans curse (specifically those that oppose their government only).
5) People don't deserve democracy because they misuse it (apparently the people aren't allowed to make mistakes)
I find it amusing that the same people actually consider the 1990's a period of democracy and free and fair elections where the military did not get involved in..
It may have been a time of a free for all, but it sure wasn't democracy.
Re: “We are tired of military rule” - A statement by some concerned Pakistani citizens
ironically you ask ppl who support the current govt how many relatives they have in the government.
so answer one key question, are there ppl on that list with personal agendas? yes or no. tis last post of yours is beginning to sound like you agree with me.
A chain is only as strong as the weakest link, when we look at musharraf’s regime and look at some of the corrupt ppl involved and then damn the entire govt, similarly if we look at this list and see ppl who have vested interests of one sort or another, they serve as the weakest link.
At the end of the day, they collectively have not put together anything here that a group of high school students cant write up.
Re: "We are tired of military rule" - A statement by some concerned Pakistani citizens
What type of 'logic' is that?!
You need to learn a lot more about how democracy works bhai

This letter is just one of many that have come out recently, backed by former insiders of the Mush regime, such as Lt.Gen.Haider...a very telling fact about the growing opposition to Mush
Re: "We are tired of military rule" - A statement by some concerned Pakistani citizens
lt general haider..right.
as I said personal agendas and axes to grind.
regardless, intent without action is useless. and these ppl have dome nothing more than tickle a keyboard and burn thru some trees during their drafts review fr their letters.
No one has a concrete plan of anything.
Re: "We are tired of military rule" - A statement by some concerned Pakistani citizens
belive me TRD, Gen Haider is a smart fellow, playing 1 match along with these guys doesnt mean he has switched teams. He w/couldnt even if he wanted to.
Re: "We are tired of military rule" - A statement by some concerned Pakistani citizen
They're not army lackeys, and it's considered the most heinous crime in this country..
Re: “We are tired of military rule” - A statement by some concerned Pakistani citizens
***The world democracies claim to be champions of human rights, yet the most learned(Doctors, Lawyers, Judges) in these democracies allow killing the human Fetus in the Mothers womb, which is supposed to be the safest place, speaking of weapons of Mass destruction, Millions have perished like that. ***
Lots of Logic here right?
Tyrants and Dictators in the past used to do that, order the death of babies. I know it is not like ordering directly, but letting it happen makes every one in the democracy responsible.
***Jerry Falwell’s first reaction to 9/11 was God is Punishing US for abortions…:halo: ***
Re: "We are tired of military rule" - A statement by some concerned Pakistani citizens
When did he do anything right?
Re: "We are tired of military rule" - A statement by some concerned Pakistani citizen
yeh perhaps he didnt do anything right from india's viewpoint or NRI's viewpoint, but you cant speak for Pakistan or Pakistani. Thank you very much.
Re: “We are tired of military rule” - A statement by some concerned Pakistani citizens
So because you oppose abortion (which the majority in these countries support)…that makes democracy invalid?
