We have watched our state being taken over by Islamists with brutal force. Yet our army and government sit on their laurels and do nothing. Our civil society too is stone dead on the issue.
We are getting what we deserve for pandering to the religious right for so long, and for lacking the moral fibre to resist these monsters in the first instance.

Well yes the solution to this Extremism is only to practically implement Islamic laws within our country and on ourselves so that such idiots must be whiped out not by operation but by real practical implementation of Islam

^^ I believe by “implementation of Islamic laws” you mean dictating wardrobe requirements for women, restricting their women and effectively dehumanizing them, also murdering the Arts and stopping televesion, cinema and free media. Sounds great

two sides of the same coin....if you have still not undersood the reality.....i can not pray allah to defend and help you because the talibans have more reasons for allah to be on their side.

Sharia Law as interpreted by Taliban types is barbaric, grotesque and has no place in civil society. Cant the classical scholars articulate that point?

For whatever reason, the more urbanised Islamist movements (like the Jamaat i islam) is also pandering to the Taliban and acting as apologists.
Either they are in denial, or they hope to somehow ride that wave to power.
Our Jamaat-i-Islaam overlook the fact that in Afghanistan the Taliban were at war with Afghanistan's Jamaat-i-Islaam, also a Maududist movement and part of the Northern Alliance.
