@ op, manipulation is convincing to get your way, example: wife manipulating husband to buy her xyz.

Now convincing is when the husband tries to convince wife not to buy xyz for the better of relationship.

the first example, pure evil. the second, smart and innocent.

I never manipulate my husband, I always convince him to buy me xyz for the better of relationship.
