Sometimes, I feel sorry for Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin. Being a head of a former superpower, he deserves better than this. He seems to be in the middle of a perplexed situation. It is obvious that Uncle Sam is no more in the mood for offering any further relaxation to Russia on territorial issues. What happened in Ukraine is an excellent example of American interference in a “Russian Suburb”. 30 years ago, Americans would never have dared to interfere in a Russian suburb so openly. But times have changed.
Poor Putin first rushed to India to talk about a possible coalition between China, Russia and India. In India, first he supported India for the Security Council membership but WITHOUT A VETO. The next day, Putin changed his stand stating that the translator misinterpreted his statement. YEAH RIGHT. What a humiliation…He came back from India and urged Chinese and Indian leadership to form a coalition with Russia. China and India responded back with a deep silence. More humiliation….Couple of days later, Mr. Putin lashed out at Poland saying that Poland was working with the West to isolate Russia, after the election crisis in Ukraine. Polish President ( who is on Mr. Bush’s paycheck these days) told him to SHUT UP…SHUT UP from a former employee…yuckkk…it hurts…
The problem Putin is facing is that he can clearly sense that USA is isolating Russia increasingly. On the other hand he is heading a country that has only 2.3% of the world’s population and accounts for only 1% of the global output (the USA accounts for 29%), a country that badly needs major investments and novel technologies for creating an economy that would guarantee its defences and security and befitting living standards for its people. And the money and latest technologies are in the West. So how can Mr. Putin pull his country out of this economic mess without losing its integrity/honor as a former superpower?
