We All Feel Sorry For You Mr. Putin.....

Sometimes, I feel sorry for Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin. Being a head of a former superpower, he deserves better than this. He seems to be in the middle of a perplexed situation. It is obvious that Uncle Sam is no more in the mood for offering any further relaxation to Russia on territorial issues. What happened in Ukraine is an excellent example of American interference in a “Russian Suburb”. 30 years ago, Americans would never have dared to interfere in a Russian suburb so openly. But times have changed.

Poor Putin first rushed to India to talk about a possible coalition between China, Russia and India. In India, first he supported India for the Security Council membership but WITHOUT A VETO. The next day, Putin changed his stand stating that the translator misinterpreted his statement. YEAH RIGHT. What a humiliation…He came back from India and urged Chinese and Indian leadership to form a coalition with Russia. China and India responded back with a deep silence. More humiliation….Couple of days later, Mr. Putin lashed out at Poland saying that Poland was working with the West to isolate Russia, after the election crisis in Ukraine. Polish President ( who is on Mr. Bush’s paycheck these days) told him to SHUT UP…SHUT UP from a former employee…yuckkk…it hurts…

The problem Putin is facing is that he can clearly sense that USA is isolating Russia increasingly. On the other hand he is heading a country that has only 2.3% of the world’s population and accounts for only 1% of the global output (the USA accounts for 29%), a country that badly needs major investments and novel technologies for creating an economy that would guarantee its defences and security and befitting living standards for its people. And the money and latest technologies are in the West. So how can Mr. Putin pull his country out of this economic mess without losing its integrity/honor as a former superpower?

Let Putin implement policies that come across as anti-democratic, but are needed in Russia. Fareed Zakaria talks about them in his book Future of Freedom. He compares Putin in Russia to General Sahib in Pk. I think it is p 176 or p 225 (dont remember exactly read the book about a yr ago). USA is not isolating Russia. USA got other peerobleeems other than Rooos. Cheen is a bigger issue right now than Roos. Roos and Cheen are conducting a joint mil exercise that the US will be watching closely.

nice summary pheonix desi. thanks for it. I have never liked putin. He thinks he is a hero who will take russia from rags to riches.
Thank god, Russia-China-India coalition never formed, or else it would have been disastrous for pakistan.

Yes, it is absolutely true that the USA has suceeded in isolating Russia. China will respond to Russian call the day when terrorism in China will become a routine.
Putin is among the few who warned USA of terror attacks in advance.
Today there are many Western states want to dictate Russia over Chechen problem, but will they be able to deal with a terrorist state existing in centre of europe after talebanic afghanistan.
Anglo-sexon vs Russian mutual disbeleife is very old and no one is ready to understand each other.
