We should remember that it is SL that has the highest ODI score of I think 443. We should also remember that AUs made 434 against SA and still lost to SA.

My worst fears have come true. Aus batting first, and Gilly playing one of the best innings of his life :( . Barring a Jayasuriya special, this final is gone, and the Cup is going to Australia yet again.

Yes. But still, nothing is impossible :). In 50 over game, 443 means around 9 runs per over. That would be equal to 342 in 38 over game.

Less overs means more chance to make higher score. As more wickets per over.
