I started the thread for the first match of this World Cup (Pak vs WI) . Thought I should do the honours for the last one too.

So who would it be :

SRI LANKA
A team that rode its way to the Final on the back of an established CHUCKER and a marginally legal SLING THROWER with a weird blonde hairdo.

OR

AUSTRALIA
A team that has simply crushed and blown away all teams that came on its way to the finals.

My money and my hope is on AUSTRALIA.

WC2007 Final: SL v AUS

Barbados. start time 1430 GMT (correct me if I am wrong)

This is my first thread in this worldcup and I hope to break the jinx of useless matches and hence threads :p

God please let it be an interesting match after all these lame super eights and semifinal encounters :(

Wow this is Australia's 4th successive WC Final and their 6th overall in 9 attempts since 1975, the best record of any cricketing nation. They have won it a record three times already and are well on track to make it 4 wins

Lost in 1975 (WI)
Won in 1987 (England)
Lost in 1996 (SLA)
Won in 1999 (Pak)
Won in 2003 (India)

I am rooting for Sri Lanka though, Go Sri Lanka...

I feel sorry for Simon Taufel. Even though he is the #1 ranked umpire in the world, the way Aussies play, he has no chance of being an umpire at a World Cup Final. Aleem Dar and Bucknor will always have an advantage over him (suckyyyyyyyyyyy teams!!!) :D

I think a better analogy is that Australia are like Roger Federer of cricket. They can lose, but its highly unlikely.
