WC 2007 in rainy Carribbean

The World Cup in 2007 scheduled to take place in the West Indies will have matches around this time of the year. So far, most of the one-dayers in the current series against England have been marred by rain. Would this be a good time of the year to hold World cup?. I think it should be held in January Februrary time frame. It’s stormy season in April, May.

You guys think these folks are capable of hosting a World Cup?

Are you referring to people in the pic? or WI receiving too much rain this time of the year?

You are right, it could get ugly if it rains too much with the Duckworth/Lewis ruining exciting matches

I dont think so. move the WC to USA /canada. :D

there's already been plenty of concern but it was hushed up by the WICB. but looking at this series seems like some of the doubts are well-placed indeed. it should be moved to England or Australia as was suggested when these doubts surfaced for the first time. going by their facilities, the Aussies will probably host an excellent world cup if given the opportunity again.

Actually it rained and spoiled 2 or 3 ODI when India toured WI 2 years back.
If this is the time they are going to have the WC then they should rethink.By why cant they have itg early..like Feb-March.

'cause then it wouldn't interfere with exams.

well maybe they should delay the world cup a further four years, by then hopefully pakistan will have a decent team and india will have worsened...right now India are favorites to lift the cup in 07.

Bhai, World Cup is not between only Pakistan and India (thankfully). There are other teams (hint hint: Australia) that also play in the World Cup, and going by the recent results (read: thrashing by Aussies in the ODI's against India), who are these geniuses that are calling India the "favorites to lift the cup in 07"?

Unless, ofcourse, you meant the "chai ka cup".

… 20 20 overs world cup:smack:

US may host 2007 World Cup cricket matches !

A delegation from Lauderhill, a South Florida city, will deliver a bid proposal to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) this week with the hope of making the United States a host nation for the 2007 World Cup.

If the US plan is accepted by the WICB and International Cricket Council (ICC), this suburb 40 kilometers north of Miami would host matches in a cricket complex set to open in late-2006, the Sun-Sentinel newspaper reported.

City officials were to meet WICB officials in Barbados Thursday and watch an ODI between England and the West Indies, already set as the 2007 World Cup host.

The WICB and ICC plan a site visit here on June 7-8 before match venues are named on July 4 and a programme is announced on July 12.

“They want to make sure we can deliver what we say we can,” Lauderhill spokeswoman Leslie Tropepe told the newspaper. "For cricketers living here, it would be a huge honour to see World Cup cricket played here.

“For some, it would be a dream come true.”

Twelve bids are expected for eight hosts berths, including those of Antigue, Bahmas, Barbados, Bermuda, Guyana, Grenada, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenadines, St Kitts-Nevis and the US Group.

No, it’d be “Duckworth-Lewis World Cup 2007”

hahaha:hehe:

the next world cup will be a crappy world cup. the infrastructure and facilities in the WI is the worst in international cricket. n the rain will further ruin the prestigious tournament.
