Great ideas. Exports that bring good profits are usually with much more prosperous nations. So you make'm cheap and sell them at good margin.
Who are the most prosperous nations that allow Pakistanis to do the exports? Namely TWO: US and UK (and EU).
So our foreign policies have to match as much as possible to US and UK (and EU where applicable) in order to increase the exports.
We also have to look at our core competency compared to our possible competitors.
Can we make cars cheaper and better than South Koreans?, can we make medical supplies that are superior to the ones made in China? can we provide office baboos and munshis who are more trained and more humble than Bharatis?
We however can provide policemen, paramilitary, and army men to the West. That's where South Korea, China, or Bharat will not be able to compete with us. Making law-enforcement people as our chief export, we can also make secondary services available.
Wherever our soldiers go, so do our other “service providers” such as: masons, carpenters, mechanics, doctors, engineers, and teachers. That said, we may be able to supplement our in-country services such as military equipment servicing and overhaul.
Hyundai of SK started off as repair shop for GIs during and immediately after Korean war. Look where are they now in mere 50+ years.
So primary service of military soldiers slowly result in evolution of secondary services.

The government should stop spending so much money on the military and put this money into health and education. This will help pakistan alot.

What the government should do is remove all the excessive fat from our military spending.
We waste so much money on the various luxuries that our military personnel get whether its servants, to drivers, cars, etc....
All these need to be curtailed.
We need to increase the Teeth-to-Tail ratio of our armed forces.
We also need to increase the size of our armored forces, and mechanized infantry and reduce static infantry formations.

I agree that we should have resources come in to our country to get rid of that title of a 'third world country' - But it will be a huge economic loss.
I strongly feel people need to be educated more and more. Government should come up with a plan where they are sending engineers, doctors, etc to outside countires on goverment's expense that they must return to their country upon finishing the degree. Where they can apply what they learned.
Taking American made cars etc will do no good.. rich will become more richer and poor will not even have a loaf of bread.
The key is to approach those poor people and show them how to make money. Either teach them skills or put them in a school for a better life. No one does anything for free so government has to offer something good to them as well..
Education system needs to be changed! to teach people a lesson there should be few temporary changes that need to be placed for few years.
1- Usually on exams/board exams only one person gets 100 and others get lower marks- believe it or not it does leave one with discouragement. I heard people driffting away from Education because of the fact they could not accomplish what they worked hard for.
2- last what i heard 33% was the passing mark. That should be raised to atleast 60% at this piont. There are many smart kids but sometimes they get treated much lower then their mental level. There is a need of serious Teaching techniques.
3- goverment should pass a rule under certain amount of marks people will be placed either in Military school- Sadly many dont want to take that route. Which will cause them to work hard.
Women don't go foward that much in life. There is so much talent in them but only the rich one can have their own art gallery or if their hubby is willing to help them out.
It should be mandatory for everyone to have atleast 2 yrs of work experience before graudating from college. or if you have that experience your tution is reduced etc.
Instead of American cars i think we can bring somethign else back home. Areas where country got effected the most after earthquake. *sigh is in serious help. Those people need to be taught how to live a civlized life and to go forward with the pain in them.
Its a good thing more and more people look at Pakistan these days and i hate to see that sympathy in their eyes. It will take years and alot of brains/people to work on it.

Nia, good thing is that American universities pay the graduate students with good GPA and other scores. So Pak taxpayers don't need to finance large numbers of foreign studies.
It may be prudent to give scholarships to few who secure admission in top schools such as MIT, Stanford etc. But that's all.
Pak Taxpayer's should only pay upto high school (12th grade). Anything beyond that should be financed by students via bank loans, scholarships, or provincial funds.
On the second topic, it is not a good idea for students to return immediately after completing their studies. They should stay in the US for 10 15 years and learn their corporate culture before coming back. Otherwise they will just be good ole Pakistanis with bad English accent and no real work experience.

good point 10-15 years will lead them to stay in other countires for good. Which is not what we want. We do want them to spend some time back at their homeland. WE cnanot be unfair to those who had a chance to leave- can we? if we think practically.
After 3 years of work experience in other country they must return back home and spend atleast 5 years shaping someting in their own home land.
I know there are alot of people who love their country- After earthquake there were thousands of poeple who came together and helped the nation. Thats something that i am very proud of. We didnt worry about who is sunni and who is shia when we were pulling those bodies....The love, courage, willingness to do something is there- we just need good direction and much more positive attitude.
