Re: Ways of Relieving Mentrual Cramps

Re: Ways of Relieving Mentrual Cramps

I come from a family of doctors and my SO is a doctor so I'm very "pro medicine". Every single medine has a "POTENTIAL" side effect. Cough medicine, headache medicine, birth control pills....children's vaccine's.....even the anesthetic dentists use to numb you when doing dental work has a "POTENTIAL" side effect. Does that mean I'm not going to vaccinate my kids or not take birth control pills or not take cough medicine? Does that mean when I have a cavity I shouldn't let the dentist numb me before they drill into me? And even before all these pills were invented, infertility issues existed even before all modern medicine.

My point being is that when it comes to simple over-the-counter medicines....personally I don't give it a 2nd thought when it comes to relieving my pain. But to each their own.....I'm sure plenty of other women will disagree with my views.

If you're really concerned about a certain pill, then do research on it before deciding whether or not to take it. But don't just decide not to take something without doing your research.

My 2 cents... :)

Re: Ways of Relieving Menstrual Cramps

razzmatazz i have the same problem..i get cramps before as well :( horrible because i have really bad cramps which nearly reduce me to tears although theyve calmed down a bit..i usually take co-codomol/ibruprofen and make sure i've eaten and then get a hot water bottle and go to bed! This routine works every time!

Re: Ways of Relieving Menstrual Cramps

And if i sleep on an empty stomach, oh its painful :( And im not talking about light cramps here and there, im talking about full cramps with back pain and everything, the whole 9 yards, before starting!..And when i start, its just a whole 'nother story!

Re: Ways of Relieving Menstrual Cramps

or commonly known as 'ponstan' ...in addition to relieving pain ALSO reduce the blood loss a little. I know a friend who used to take it on the 1st day specifically for the latter purpose!! and it worked! I tried ponstan then...and it did seem to work. But my mom says something that alters the course of nature ...is not to be done!!
