CAIRO, Dec. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- Egypt, the United States and Israel here Tuesday signed a historical agreement on trade and industry, which is also be seen as the first strategic partnership accord between Egypt and Israel since they sealed a peace treaty in 1979, a Xinhua c orrespondent reported on the scene.
The Qualified Industrial Zones (QIZs) agreement was inked by Egyptian Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry Rasheed Mohamed Rasheed, US Trade Representative Robert Zoellick and Israeli Vice Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Under the agreement, certain Egyptian goods with Israeli input at the minimum of 11.7 percent will be exported to the United States without paying any customs duty.
Zoellick, who arrived in Cairo on Sunday, said it is the most important economic accord to be signed by the two neighbors since they signed the landmark treaty 25 years ago.

Why certain and above all why Israeli input? Usually Econ-Unions do have "certain" in their clauses but Israeli input, I dont understand.
I mean the mexicans dont ask for canadien input for U.S to buy mexican goods.
Instead of forging economic unions with countries that are far away and don't touch our borders, Pakistan should forge (I think they are already in the process) Eco-Unions with Iran, India, China, etc....
Pakistan also as a goddwill and to defy other Muslim countries should also recognize Israel as a country. That step alone will make Pakistan look more mature. Now only to convince the Raiwind folks that this is good tha-y-ng.
This is nothing new, We have always paid Egypt for peace. Why do you think we send them 3Bil a year? This seems a bit more clever, as to encourage economic activity, rather than feeding the corrupt politicians with direct payments.
