Waxing

After you’ve waxed how long after do you need to repeat the procedure again? ( Lets see who’s more hairy :p)

Re: Waxing

Lol random thread. I think it depends what people are comfortable with. Like sometimes I would wax again after a few weeks even though there wasn't much there, just to keep it smooth. Other times I'd let more hair come through.

I'm all Lasered up now though, so no waxing for me :)

Re: Waxing

need waxing afta every 2months...2 little here :P

Re: Waxing

Re: Waxing

how come i've never seen anyone talk of cold-wax in this forum? is it bad?

Re: Waxing

stoppit: How many laser treatments do you roughly need?

farrah: I didn't even know that you can use cold wax. Doesn't it make waxing more painful?

How much did it cost you ? And all lasered up means literally all lasered up?

Legs, bikini, underarms all done. Currently doing 3/4 arms. I'm not 100% hair free in those areas as that's not what Laser is - it's a permanent reduction not complete hair removal. I would say I have 90% reduction in most areas but that 10% left is fine and barely noticeable.

Laser won't give good (or usually any) results where the hair is fine such as stomach, back, upper arms and face. You can search for 'Laser' in this section of the forums for all the info I have written in the past. It will explain everything clearly. People keep doing and doing treatments in these areas (sometimes for 2 years or more), thinking it's working coz they get shedding and 'hair-free' periods but the follicles aren't actually permanently disabled.

For example, after 6 underarm treatments, I finished off the remaining fine hairs with electrolysis. Electrolysis cost less than a 7th Laser treatment and actually killed those remaining follicles; it was unlikey that Laser would have been able to.

mkd: It depends on a lot of things - how course and dark the hair is, how in 'sycn' the hair is on your first treatment (Laser will only damage follicles in the growth phase), what settings are used.
my underarms took 6 treatments, lower leg 3, front of thighs 4, bikini 3.
Clinics will never tell you that you can achieve such good and rapid results, you really need to do your research how to get the most out of them. They say typically 6 minimum.

cold wax is a different kind of wax .. not the same as hot wax .. hot wax is messy, cold isnt. hotwax needs to be pulled off with cloth strips. cold wax is a bit thick when applied, and cools down instantly (almost rubber like), and you pull it off while grabbing to one end, and ever subsequent pull is by pressing the wax in hand onto the wax on skin, and just pulling. it doesnt get all gooey and disgusting on hands.
they do it in parlours in pakistan for face, and even more specifically for upper-lips.
i was thinkng this would be very convenient for ahemdownthereahem

Re: Waxing

^Farrah, this is a different kind of wax altogether. It's not what we call 'cold wax' here in the UK and US.

The wax you are referring too is okay (in terms of quick and not messy) but I find it doesn't remove short hairs and leads to bruising if not done correctly. For short hairs or the face, hot film wax is the best - once applied as a strip of film it cools down and becomes hard, you then rip it off without using a cloth strip. It doesn't adhere to the skin very much, so doesn't pull at it.

Re: Waxing

Last wax I got was 18 months ago.

I refuse to go to cheap places for my waxing and times are a bit lean so...no.

Re: Waxing

I got waxed for the first time 2weeks ago, My next wax is due in 2 weeks. Im gonna be booked in evry 3 weeks for 1 more time, Then after that its every 6 weeks. I've already noticed my hairs be very fine. Im so chuffed.

Re: Waxing

I am hairy :(. Usually, I am ready for another wax in about a month. I have almost full growth in about a month. Though, something weird happened this time. I got waxed in Karachi week and a half ago, and I already have noticeable growth :S. The girl did it really quickly, so I am thinking that she broke lots of my hair, instead of pulling them out. I don't know. It is annoying to see them already. I also noticed faster hair and nail growth, while in Pakistan. Don't know what's up with that.

AH right. Nice sharing. How painful is electrolysis? And the cost part is unanswered?

Re: Waxing

I find electrolysis is less painful in general but it depends on the area being treated. Underarms with electrolysis is very painful to me.

Cost varies from one clinic to the next and will depend on total number of treatments you have. Underarm treatments at my clinic are £65 (off peak time), Legs were £220 per treatment, Bikini is like £100 and so on. You do get discounts and stuff if you have more than one treatment at a time etc. There are so many parameters that this information isn't really that helpful, just a rough guide.
