So in my in-laws, the custom is that the new Bahu wears an outfit made by the ladies of the family on the day of her rukhsati. My MIL is an elderly lady who is making an old school gharara by hand…its very sweet of her.
I want to wear it BUT its watermelon pink…not a color I like or have ever worn. It is the khulay painchay wala gharara.
What makeup would look ideal with watermelon pink?
Congratulations firstly! Watermelon pink sounds nicee! Thats sweet of your mother in law
I would go for a soft peachy smokey-ish eyemakeup and subtle lips, and i would go for soft wavy hair down, im so not good at describing but those colors came to mind!

The glitter sounds interesting actually. I might look into a gold one line that…I think I am leaning towards a glitter touch, golds with brown crease smoked out subtly. Peachish cheeks with lots of highlighter and watermelon pink lips…oh I have to go hunt now! I don’t think I have that!
I don't think there's a contrast color...I only saw the bottoms and they were solid.
I don't know how to ask her...just want to be prepared so I don't end up taking a million hours for trial and error last minute.
Watermelon pink is a cute color; don't let it scare you.
As for the contrast color......you can totally add that pop of color yourself. I'm thinking a lime green somewhere.....maybe in the chooriyan? Or in other jewelry? Or the purse.
I remember my cousin wore a mauve'ish lehnga...and she had lime green accents in her eyeshadow and chooriyan and the contrast was gorgeous.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing when I asked about the contrast colour! Yeah you could do a green colour on the bottom waterline of your eye, have jewellery with green stones and matching chudiyan!
The green idea is wonderful...thanks RV! Did anyone see Ainy Jaffri's mehndi picture? The one with the green colored waterline? That would be nice? Or is that too mehndi-ish?
OH and I found out today that the shirt is a light green color after all!
Watermelon pink is a lovely colour- don't feel daunted because you haven't worn it before! Try to find our what colour the embroidery is- if it is gold or silver etc then you can consider whether to add any glittery touches in either of these colours on your eye makeup. Oh and watermelon pink nails look fantastic (mine are this colour shellac atm love them!)
