Waterbirth

Re: Waterbirth

A friend of mine had a waterbirth for her second child. She said the biggest benefit was that she was able to keep her muscles relaxed, plus she would turn on the jests during really strong contractions and said it helped distract her from the pain.

That being said I know that some women end up having bowel movements during the pushing part, I can't really imagine that floating around in the water.

Re: Waterbirth

Thats what my friend said, she has only had one child so can't compare with giving birth on a bed, I'm not keen on the idea of floating around in a soup of urine, poop and blood.

Re: Waterbirth

you guys REALLY think they would leave you to sit in poo blood and urine for the whole delivery eh.

:head+wall=banging:

Re: Waterbirth

^ lol!

Re: Waterbirth

My very naturalist co- worker was pregnant the same time as me. While I choose to have my delivery strapped to every machine human being invented - She had a water birth in her own jacuzzi at home using a doula with permission and guidance of her OB.

According to her it was a more soothing and relaxing way to give birth being in her own home.

Re: Waterbirth

thats it.. im going this way for my 2nd. bus.. buss.. no more talking me out of it... my mind is made :D

plus.. it doesnt have to be at home... hospitals here are fully prepped for this kinda stuff... i guess it makes sense cuz we have midwives here that help a woman give birth rather than drs. (unless its c sec then ya duh.. surgeon comes in.. )

Re: Waterbirth

:hmmm:

Re: Waterbirth

kiss soch mein pargayin?

Re: Waterbirth

:k:

That’s actually a valid concern.

If you’re in the middle of labor, and you have a bowel movement, do you think the midwife will tell you to get out of the tub and walk to the bed? Or do you think they will first let go of the dirty water, then wait for the tub to fill up with clean water again, meanwhile you’re in the midst of labor???

Re: Waterbirth

^ and I just had my lunch :bummer:

Re: Waterbirth

TLK, that’s why we advice you men to stay away from birthing threads :hehe:

I’m trying to understand how it can be relaxing.

Re: Waterbirth

^ your weightless and floating in water. did you ever do aqua bellies or any of the pregnancy water-based fitness classes? same principle.

Re: Waterbirth

niksik... tie a watermelon to your belly... and then sit in the bathtub.. granted you wont feel contractions.. but atleast you will understand how light it all feels when you are underwater.. even with a watermelon tied to your belly ...

there you go... somethign to do with tlk on the weekend.. hehe

Re: Waterbirth

I see now. But when you're pushing...you really want your feet firmly planted. You really can't do that in water, can you? SGC I didn't attend attend any classes during any of my pregnancies.

Re: Waterbirth

Not all women need that and also if you Want to push that way u can. You arent in deep water. U still have ure bearings

Re: Waterbirth

OK see, when we go to a pool to swim, you can barely stand straight in 3ft water. Water always makes you bend your knees thereby taking the force away from your feet. So that's what I'm trying to imagine.

I'm sure it must be beneficial for many, that is why it's becoming popular. But again, is this just one of those fancy "i wanna be different" type of trend or what? I don't have issues, bhai jis ko kerna hai hawaa mein karo ya paani mey...meray toh bachay ho gaye alhamdulillah, so I'm just trying to understand the reasoning behind this.

Re: Waterbirth

hawaa mein! hahahaha

I am sure the hipsters will eventually go down that route as well!!

Re: Waterbirth

Ok so I was in the the bath tub during contractions and it didn't make any difference painwise! If anything I felt more pain! So nope, not into waterbirths and stuff :-/

Re: Waterbirth

i was so scared....i took those 3 days off... stupid health class... and now going through it.... damn it...

Re: Waterbirth

hey are you expecting nia? if you are.. congrats!!!!
