If water is actually tasteless, why do we sometimes take a sip and say “hmmm this water tastes weird?” 
So water, in its natural state, does have some sort of taste, right?
On that note, are you one of those sensitive-tastebuds people who can taste cucumber? What does cucumber taste like?

its the minerals that give it taste....pure H2O, distilled water doesn't really have any taste...

cucumber if grown organically, in your own backyard tastes a bit sweet. it's very refreshing. i'll send you my home-grown stuff next time :farmer brown:
if you drink distilled water, actually, let me rephrase it. you can't drink distilled water. you won't be able to drink any. the water that we drink has minerals and other metals dissolved in it which give it its distinctive taste. tap waters from one region to another can taste differently due to the pipes throgh which they flow. similarly, spring water from the alps will taste different from water from the great lakes. it all depends on the composition of the minerals and other deposits.

meaning since we are used to "normal" water, distilled water is pretty vile to the tongue. plus we aren't programmed to drink distilled water. try it. next time you buy a bottle of distilled water to put in your iron, try drinking it and see how much you can actually swallow. (or if you have access to a highschool chem lab, get it from there)

I have thought about tasting distilled water when I'm in the lab but tasting anything from a chemistry lab just doesn't seem like a good idea :D I agree with khummi, tap water does have a slight distinctive taste.... I still remember when we moved to this city from another city, we absolutely hated the tap water here because we were so used to the "other" taste...
I can't taste cucumber, it tastes like water to me :D
