I am sure I saw a thread somewhere a while back about a joke about a glass of water on a slab of Mars chocolate…but I found some more articles on Nat Geo and BBC about it last night, that now they have proof that once there really was water on Mars!
They found some pebbles, and feel they were formed only by erosion when they were transported by water…
"The robot has returned pictures of classic conglomerates - rocks that are made up of gravels and sand.
Scientists on the mission team say the size and rounded shape of the pebbles in the rock indicate they had been transported and eroded in water.
Researchers think the rover has found a network of ancient streams.
The rocks, which were described in a media briefing at Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, were likely laid down “several billion years ago”. But the actual streams themselves may have persisted on the surface for long periods, said Curiosity science co-investigator Bill Dietrich of the University of California, Berkeley.

Well mars has ice caps. So technically you can say that it does have water. Did you know, Olympus mons which is the biggest volcano in the universe is located on mars? It's not active though.
I don't think it's possible. Mars may have been earthlike billions of years ago. I read somewhere that a great calamity caused mars to be how it is today.
The mars is the planet which has more resemblance to earth as scientist and researchers say that life can be possible on that planet if we established a livable environment on Mars.
