Because if we didn’t have water..we wouldn’t have elctricity which comes from water. And most important source is cleaniess which we use water for. And finally we drink water in order to survive just so we don’t get dehydrated.

Electricity doesn’t come from water. water is used in the process simply because water can be turned to high pressure steam which is then used to spin turbines to create AC.

It’s a good question, it’s possible we look for water because water is a combination of two lighter elements, perhaps it could be another element or a combination of elements which can sustain life too but all these elements would have to be ‘light’ elements which are available from stars (as opposed to heavier elements which only come from super novas).
