Sometime ago it was suggested in a thread to apply black eyeshadow lightly over the kajal (along the water line) to make kajal stay longer and smudge free.
Just want to make sure I got it right. Secondly, wont it be harmful if u apply eyeshadow daily in ur water line? ( after wudu, my kajal smudges a lot and have to re apply. )
Re: water line and kajal?
What is water line?
Re: water line and kajal?
^ water line is an inner lower part of your eye.
OP, I won't suggest black eyeshadow on daily basis. You just need some good brand Kajal for a strong hold.
water line and kajal?
I find gel liner to be very long lasting in the water line, no eyeshadow required
Re: water line and kajal?
Ive tried maybeline colosal kajal along with other few. Is eyeliner inside the water line safe to use?

I would never use any other product on daily basis (and especially when sleeping) inside the water line else than Kajal/ Kajal Pencil.
Re: water line and kajal?
^true, thats why ive always used kajal (which is meant to be applied in waterline). The thing is when u make wudu and splash water on your face , the kajal tends to smudge and is slightly wiped out due to eyes being wet. So every time ive to wipe the smudged kajal and re apply it.
Re: water line and kajal?
I am a frequent user of Kajal and i literally love using it. I have never heard about applying eye shadow on the water line and i personally think its not a good idea as it can cause infection in eyes. Yes its natural that kajal smudges after wazu and the best thing to refix is, remove the smudges from the cotton soaked in any kind of cleanser or moisturizer and then reapply the kajal.
Worry not , you will only have to re-fix it 5 times daily :)

Lol, yes thats why I was looking for any way out.
Re: water line and kajal?
SF, truly telling you, yes I’m a frequent user of Kajal too and in fact, its something I can never get rid of. My husband is quite habitual of seeing me like that and if I ever forget to re-apply it, he assumes I am sick ![]()
For cleaning excessive Kajal, I use eye makeup remover, apply it on a cotton ball and remove it. It works like magic. Also, once you are habitual of Kajal on daily basis, most of the times, you tend to carry it too. I mean, carrying makeup is an art too, you know that?? ![]()
Re: water line and kajal?
But light smudges also look attractive :) what do u think?... my mom hates my smudges and she always asks me to use eye liner instead of kajal.. but i still love kajal and i never stop using it.
No matter how much expensive kajal of a reputed brand you are using, smudges always appear... So never buy expensive kajals just use 'Hashmi' kajal with cap.. it is the best kajal ... :D
Re: water line and kajal?
Girls, thanks for your suggestions. I guess I've to live with the smudges .
@Diya, yes in a way smudge looks good for a while but the kajal itself gets so washed away and lightens that have to re apply frequently.
@queen, lol, my mom also says kya chitti bagi aankhain ki hui hain, whenever she sees me without kajal.
Re: water line and kajal?
lol…chitti baagi… ![]()
Re: water line and kajal?
what is chitti bagi by the way? sounds funny :D
Re: water line and kajal?
Literal meaning is white, but more in a sense, lifeless or lusterless.
Re: water line and kajal?
What works for me is to put eyeshadow with an angular brush along my lower lash line. Smudged kajal is fine unless it looks like panda eyes ![]()
That seems workable. Unless of course it doesn’t gets washed away too, after splashing the face.
