Riaz’s canvases of river banks of Punjab, where a buffalo or two are idling at evening with crows taking fights in the air and sometimes perched on the back of baffalos presents a typical evening in north of Pakistan. The colors he uses are soft subtle and often gives a feeling of a worn out painitng. Though Mugheez Riaz lives in Lahore where he also teaches art at Punjab University, has pre-occupied himself for over 10 years to paint. His landscape series of environ may be an escape and a return to his childhood memories growing up near river banks closed to his home.
