The different institutes should involve in the bigger scheme of things by propagating the religion. By getting involved in controversial topics like these they neither do any service to themselves nor the religion.

I can understand the fatwa from picture being prohibited point of view, but I totally agree with Ali Syed. There are bigger issues to handle right now. Watching cartoon is probably least of the fitna that we are facing as Muslims.

Discussing this topic is firqay baazi? As far as I am concerned I don't consider myself to be a strict adherent of any firqa. When we die we won't be asked of our sect.

They dont issue fatwa out of blue, some one must have asked them this question so the topic of focusing on bigger issues is irrelevant.

^ or may be muftis are working remotely from their homes instead of their factory :) after all there is a growing trend in both public and private sector to work from home.
Anyhow, if any of these muftis tried to issue fatwa against Batman, its not gonna be pretty
