he hit the first SIX off balaji and I said "revenge taken from balaji for his dismissal in the last match, and i think that will be afridi's target for today"....
when he lofted the second ball high to the straight, i watched it go to the sy and got up saying "chalo jee, yeh to gaya"....
but my wife made me return saying, "its a SIX he aint out"....
the "well caught" comment i heard from the commentator with my back on the TV and afridi already OUT in my mind, turned out to be targeted towards the ballboy who held on to the rocket outside the boundary....
zaheer khan then bowled a maiden over to salman and i thought "if afridi comes before zaheer, he'll try to get after him and make him repay for this maiden over, and in the process hole out to the man in the deep, or even in the circle isnt unthinkable"....
dravid quickly replaced balaji with kumble, and afridi greeted his first ball - a fulltoss- by sending it flying over the leg-side boundary....
kumble and dravid tried to sort out the field but afridi's face showed clearly that he isnt satisifed with that one six off kumble....
he hit him for 3 SIXES in that over, each better than the previous....
afridi reached his 50 off 20 balls and i once again felt that he can actulaly break the record for the qickest 50 if he really thinks about it....
but the way this guy plays i dont think he is bothered about records and statistics....
he plays every ball on "hit and forget" basis....
in came mongia and got what everyone else got - a 20+ runs over....
i thought he had actually fallen in the trap dravid set up for him....
but he was saved by the stretched right hand of the umpire signalling a noball....
he even hit zaheer for a SIX....
that was a mighty shot - then again all afridi shots r mighty....
zaheer khan did get afridi under control and delayed his 100 by a good one over....
afridi cud have had his second fastest hundred in 40 balls (or less) but in the end zaheer's tight bowling forced him to be content with sharing the second place with lara....
afridi playa in a world of their own....
he is unmatched in the way he hits those shots- sheer brute force....
one can only feel pity for the helpless bowlers who wud be praying they had 50 meter tall fielders on the field when bowling to afridi....
